Dear Mom Friends,

Happy Labor Day to you moms. My daughter was born on Labor Day 8 years ago. As you all know, motherhood is hard labor! And, I’m so glad I’m laboring together with you all. It makes the journey that much more sweet!

We are set to kick off the 2021-2022 Mom Connection season this coming Friday! Our monthly meetings are meant to be a Mom mini-retreat… full of yummy food, (that you don’t have to cook!), connection with moms of all seasons, and some good encouragement. Who couldn’t use a little reset button and a deep exhale?

FRIDAY Sept 10th 9am C-105 North Coast Calvary Chapel

As a mom, sometimes it can feel like the whole world (or at least my family’s whole world) lies on MY shoulders. I juggle a household, a marriage, a school, a ministry, many emotions, some drama, and well that’s on a good day! The book we are going to walk through together this year, The Well-Watered Women, is going to help us remember we aren’t our family’s savior (thank goodness because that would end with terrible disappointment.). I can’t protect my family from the brokenness of this world. I can’t “plan” away all the risks of failures, disappointments, hurt, and pain. So, how can I stay “well-watered” despite sometimes it appearing like I am surrounded by desert and famine and dark scary monsters?

Come join me at the Mom Connection as we jump into the living waters together and rediscover the disciples of living this well watered life God promises for us!

I’m praying for each name that has already registered. I’m thrilled to walk into this season together and can’t wait to see you!

And, for those still considering joining, its not too late. To register go to…www.womenengaging.com/tmc. You can register month to month or through an annual membership (all 5 Friday meetings) which includes the Well-Watered Women book.

We have an amazing childcare program for our 5 Friday meetings this year (for a small fee):
-Nursery care for our 10 yrs looking to study on their own in a quiet space (with adult supervision)

In addition to the 5 monthly meetings, we will have small groups meeting in between our monthly meetings allowing for deeper discussion and relationships with other non. We are hoping these Mom groups produce long-lasting friendships that may carry through a season or even the entire journey of motherhood! Wouldn’t that be cool!

Right now, we have small groups meeting biweekly starting in September:
Tuesdays, noon on ZOOM
Thursdays, 6pm at NCCC
Fridays, 9am at NCCC (multiple groups) Childcare will be available onsite

We are open to starting additional groups as needed, so if you don’t see a time that works for you and have a couple friends interested in forming a Mom group, let me know!

Love,

Michele (858) 449-0900

Dear Mom Friends,

After many years of desiring to practice Advent, (subsequently missing the first Sunday and therefore skipping it all together), this year our family is partaking in Advent! As part of my personal Advent experience, I am reading Shadow and Light by Tsh Oxenreider which was gifted to me by a dear friend. Its a simple daily reading with a verse, a song to listen to, and a piece of artwork to reflect upon. There is so much beauty packed into the two page daily offering and I’ve enjoyed it much. During the first week of Advent we focused on “waiting" and I wanted to share a quote from day 2:

Advent is a season pregnant with purpose of intentional delay. More than 2,000 years after the historic event of Jesus’s birth, we live in a world where Christ already lived. But we still wait until all things will be fully redeemed and made new. The world is not as it should be. Not yet. We wait in the shadows for God’s full redemption and perfect light that are promised. Advent is a small, annual remembrance of our greater waiting for the complete fulfillment of Christ’s life on earth: that the world might be redeemed. In this season, as we wait for Christmas, we also wait with an even greater hope for the earth (page 36)

Waiting is hard especially living in a broken world. Sometimes it feels like the waiting will never end. It can be agonizing. I think we’ve all waited for various things this year… schools to open, vacations postponed, hugs from faraway loved ones.

Thank goodness our hope is not in this world. Our Hope is in a God who is faithful and is reaching out to His weary children saying, “Come and I will give you rest.”

My dear friends, my prayer for you as we enter into these coming days looking towards Christmas, is that you will find peace in the broken bits. Reconcile your hurts, your losses, your deepest longings from this year to Him. He sees. He already knows, And, He hurts with you in the wait. But, also step out of the shadows and into the Light. For our great Hope is in His coming.

Merry Christmas dear friends, I miss gathering with you. I miss celebrating with you. Thank you for praying for my family. God is at work!

We will meet Jan 9th for our second meet up with Lee in our Brave Mom Brave Kids series. You can register through this link:

Love,

MIchele

What must my parents have thought when their daughter said she was traveling to Asia immediately after the 2002 tsunami to serve with a medical team? Or, how did God comfort my parents' hearts when I told them that the surgeon had just told me and my finance' that we would not be able to have children? When I look back, these types of experiences were game changers for me. They helped me find the voice of God and see His hand at work in the midst of tragedy and pain. I experienced God's powerful presence in my life. But, as a parent of such child, it must have been hard. It wasn't easy, but my parents gave me the freedom to follow where I thought God was leading, and they gave God room to work in my life. How will I respond when my children ask the same of me? Woah! With God's help, I hope I can release my children well. Join us this year at the Mom Connection as we press into God and challenge ourselves with Lee Nienhius and her book, Brave Mom Brave Kids. In this moment, do you feel BRAVE? Man, there have been moments this year where I have felt nothing short of the exact opposite of that word. But, despite how I feel, I stand firm on God's Holy Word which says “For God has not given me a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7.

I am so excited to announce our 2020-2021 Mom Connection program centered around Lee Nienhius' book Brave Mom, Brave Kids: A Battleplan for Raising Heros. Come join us as we spend 3 sessions in Sept, Jan, and May LIVE with Lee and dive into small groups with Mom friends for discussion, prayer, and encouragement throughout the year.

For more details and to register go to www.womenengaging.com/tmc. We are offering this entire program for FREE. There are options to participate from your home so you don't need to be in San Diego to join us!
