We would like to invite you to Crossroads Church of the Nazarene's last Sunday service this Sunday at 10:30. We will be closing after Sunday. If you know anyone who has at one time been connected to us please let them know about the service and the potluck afterwards. We are reminded again that our world continues to be divided by many political, ethnic, racial, and cultural issues. It is our hopeful prayer that wherever there are Nazarenes, they will stand for peace, healing, and reconciliation.

Today Nazarene Archives features an informal photo of Hiram F. Reynolds. Reynolds was the Church of the Nazarene's second general superintendent, serving from 1907 to 1932. His collection in the Nazarene Archives is regarded by denominational archivist Stan Ingersol as the most significant collection there. With 25,000 pieces of correspondence, it averages three letters for each day Reynolds served as general superintendent.

Reynolds was elected general superintendent in 1907, at the First General Assembly, held in Chicago. Before that, he served for ten years as General Missionary Secretary of the Wesleyan-holiness churches in the eastern United States. Under his leadership, they sent missionaries to India (1898) and Cape Verde (1901). In 1902, Reynolds conducted revivals in Nova Scotia and afterwards personally organized the first Nazarene congregations in Canada.

After becoming general superintendent, he also continued as the united church's first Executive Secretary of missions for 17 of the next 25 years. Because of his missionary vision and advocacy, over 70 percent of Nazarenes now live outside the U.S. and Canada.
