Our Clothing Closet and Food Pantry are open Wednesday nights 6-7:30 p.m. Living Waters of Capon Bridge is a non-denominational church and outreach center located at 155 Capon School St in the old elementary school building. We are a registered 501c3 nonprofit and are entirely volunteer-led. Based on the examples set forth in scripture from the early church and the teachings of Jesus Christ, we be

lieve the church is not a building or place, but rather a community of believers called to live out life as disciples of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 12:12-31, Ephesians 5:25-30, Romans 16:1-16). Our Clothing Closet offers gently used clothing, shoes, and outerwear for free. Our Food Pantry provides weekly food boxes with items for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are no applications or paperwork required to receive food. Both the Clothing Closet and Food Pantry are open Wednesdays at 6 p.m. We meet on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. for praise & worship followed by either a teaching, scripture study, or service project. The 1st Sunday of the month is a teaching Sunday, the 2nd and 3rd Sundays are study Sundays, and the 4th Sunday is service Sunday. Communion is offered the 1st Sunday of every month. What makes us different from other churches? Following the New Testament pattern, there are no positional leaders (e.g. head pastor) at Living Waters of Capon Bridge. Christ is the leader of the Church. Members discern how Christ is leading at particular points in time and then, according to their gifts, take turns being used by Christ to serve during different seasons in the life of the church. In this way, the church gets to experience practically what it means to be one body with many parts. The food pantry WILL be open tonight at 6pm!

It's come to our attention that there is some misinformation being circulated regarding the safety of our building. We want to assure the community that the building is safe and the clothing closet and food pantry remain open Wednesday nights from 6-7:30 pm.

Last month the water tank of an unused water fountain on the top floor froze and cracked during the extreme low temps. This caused a large amount of water to come through the drop ceiling on the 1st floor and broke some ceiling tiles. The water line to the fountain was immediately shut off, thanks to our wonderful plumber, and the cracked tank removed. The only real damage was to the ceiling tiles, which will be replaced.

While our roof did sustain damage last spring during a bad storm, it was secured and there has been no recent "cave-in" or damage to the roof.

Please feel free to contact us directly if you have any questions.

Sit with me for a minute if you will, while I tell you a story!

For the past five years, our little church has given out Thanksgiving meal boxes to those in need in our community. For the first time since we started this little church, we had to make the very tough decision not to give them out this year due to financial constraints. I was heartbroken to have to make that decision, especially given the current state of our economy and the rising costs of food.

Then, a miracle happened! We were contacted by a family from Northern VA who had twins who are getting confirmed soon and decided as their service project, to donate food boxes to our little food pantry (over two hours away). Not just any food boxes mind you, but 20 complete Thanksgiving boxes for all the fixins minus the turkey. God had spoken through this family! What a blessing, now all we needed to do is get 20 turkeys to go with them.

Unbeknownst to me, my father in law was already working on some things. In addition to buying 4 turkeys to donate, he was making a few inquiries and found a farm in Virginia to donate 30 whole farm fresh turkeys at no cost to us!

So tonight, at our food pantry we handed out 34 normal food boxes plus 20 full thanksgiving boxes to families in need!! Miracles do still happen!

Thank you so much to the Phelps family from Alexandria, Bill and Deb Bowman, Jonathan Miller at sunrisefarmsinc in Stuart’s Draft, VA and to all of the volunteers that helped pack, carry and load boxes tonight, including Steff, Kristy, Daniel, Hannah, Olivia, Jelise, Kaitlin, and Randy!

Our community owes you all a debt of gratitude!! Happy Thanksgiving all!!
