St. Vincent's College (Cape Girardeau MO) When the high school closed in 1979, the mission of St. Vincent’s College was reexamined and evangelization emerged as the most viable option.

The change from preparatory seminary to a center for evangelization became a reality with focus on retreats and other religious activities. The Evangelization Center continued to function until 1989 when its continuation was no longer deemed economically feasible. The property was put up for sale and after several bids by interested parties, was eventually sold to Southeast Missouri State University in 1998.

...but not for long, if the university gets their way. Although we may never know for sure, it's quite possible that the doomed handball court on the grounds of old St. Vincent's College is the oldest remaining handball court in the whole United States -- east or west of the Mississippi River...
