Groundbreaking announcement from First Baptist Church of Cape Fair: As many of you know, we recently acquired the deserted mobile home park adjoining church property. This land has been an eyesore right on the highway in Cape Fair for 15 years.
This week, we are now beginning the demolition and clean up of all of the hazardous materials from the 14 mobile homes left behind from years of neglect by the previous owner, as well as clearing the nearly 4 acres.
The deposit of $7,350 to the excavating company has been paid a few days ago from our Land Development Fund. We will be paying the balance of somewhere between $48,000-$50,000 at the end of September when the work is completed.
Here is the way that will happen…
We have a private individual benefactor who has stepped forward and is willing to do two things to make this a reality.
This individual will:
1. Match whatever funds the church family can raise on our own toward the balance between now and Sunday September 27th.
2. Whatever remains not raised by the church including matching funds will be financed for the church interest free by the individual benefactor.
I will explain more this Sunday when we gather, but wanted to get this extremely exciting news out to all of you as soon as I was informed.
So we have a month to see what we can do and whatever is collected will be matched, which will in reality double whatever we raise between now and September 27. Then the remainder will be financed interest free.

All gifts given to this matching opportunity for clearing the land should be gifts above our normal budgetary giving and clearly designated: “Land Development Fund”
