Most of you know this as Memorial Day weekend, and many know that we celebrate Pentecost on Sunday, the birthday of the church when the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit. But there’s another celebration that’s especially important in the Methodist family: Aldersgate Sunday.

The Townson University Choir will be performing a concert at our church on Saturday, May 30 at 7 p.m. It also will be performing at the Lighthouse combined service at Thornton Heights on Sunday, May 31 at 10 a.m.

We are looking for anyone who would be willing to host a singer or two in their homes following the Saturday night concert. We also are looking for volunteers to bring pot-luck food offerings for the choir after the Saturday night concert.

If you are willing to help with both or either, please contact Faith York at church on Sunday or by e-mail, [email protected].

The choir is directed by Stephen Holmes, who brought the Annapolis Area Christian School Upper Choir to our church for a performance during worship in 2012 (photo below).

In other years, Dr. Holmes brought to our church the Maryland State Boychoir, the Notre Dame of Maryland Women's Choir, and the Singing Men of Maryland.

Don't miss this special opportunity to hear incredible choral music.

Thank you to everyone who came out Friday, May 9 to help clean up the church gardens, including spreading wood chips on the path in the Meditation Garden, spreading mulch through the Meditation and Memory gardens, and mulching the large front garden by the back entrance to the church. Many thanks to the Linds, Websters, Bob Knupp, Jim Tammaro, and Carol Haider. The gardens look great!

We are looking for volunteers to help with cleaning up the church gardens and the Chapel in the Woods. We will gather at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 8 for spreading mulch and woods chips, pruning, raking, bringing out hoses, and other spring tasks. If possible please bring wheelbarrows, rakes, shovels, and pruning tools. We'll work until about noon, but even if you are available for only part of the time, we can use you help. Thank you!
