As I continued my journey inside the synagogue cave next to the Western Wall. I found an IDF soldier who had finished praying and was heading back to work.

It was a powerful sight to see how he took the time in his day to seek God’s guidance and protection himself on a personal level.

When he could have said. We have other Jews praying for us, so I don’t need to, or I’m at work now and my job is to defend and that’s enough…

It truly shows that he understands that his purpose is part of a bigger story than to just serve and die for your country.

Israel 🇮🇱 has always been under attack and on this earth that we live in now, always will. This is because God called this nation His chosen people and His house.

The devil and his demons were cast out of heaven into earth.

And so until Jesus comes back and casts them out to the lake of fire and brings down from Heaven the New Jerusalem unto the New Earth, there will always be spiritual war against Israel.

Why is Israel so hated? Through Israel God brought the scriptures (The Word of God ) to the whole world. And through a Jewish man Jeshua HaMashiach God himself in the flesh, took our sins on the cross and gave us everlasting life.

Old City of Jerusalem—is one of the most historically and spiritually significant places in the world.

Jerusalem is one of the central cities in all of Scripture. It is closely connected with God’s covenant, the Temple, the kingship of David, the Messiah, and prophetic future events.

Jerusalem is first connected to:
* Melchizedek, king of Salem, who blessed Abraham in Genesis 14.

“Salem” became Jerusalem.

Jerusalem became Israel’s capital when:
* David captured the city from the Jebusites (2 Samuel 5).

David made it:
* the political capital,
* the spiritual center,
* and the place where the Ark of the Covenant was brought.

Jesus Christ spent major moments of His ministry in Jerusalem:

* Triumphal Entry
* Last Supper
* Crucifixion
* Resurrection

Biblically, Jerusalem is where:

* He was rejected,
* crucified,
* and rose again.

The city has been ruled by many civilizations:

1. Canaanites / Jebusites
Original ancient inhabitants before Israelite rule.
2. Israelite Kingdom
Under David and Solomon; First Temple built.
3. Babylonians
Destroyed the First Temple and exiled the Jews.
4. Persians
Allowed Jewish return and rebuilding of the Second Temple.
5. Greeks (Hellenistic Empires)
After Alexander the Great.
6. Hasmonean Jewish Kingdom
Period of restored Jewish self-rule.
7. Romans
Ruled during the time of Jesus Christ; destroyed Second Temple in 70 AD.
8. Byzantines
Christian Roman Empire period.
9. Islamic Caliphates
Rashidun, Umayyad, Abbasid, Fatimid dynasties.
10. Crusaders
European Christian rule during the Crusades.
11. Ayyubids & Mamluks
Muslim dynasties after Saladin.
12. Ottoman Empire
Ruled for about 400 years; built current city walls.
13. British Mandate
Controlled Jerusalem after World War I.
14. Jordan
Controlled East Jerusalem from 1948–1967.
15. Modern Israel
Has controlled the unified city since 1967.

This is a dream come true for me. Here I am in the city that I read about in the Bible. The place God points the eyes of the whole world to look at.
The place he commanded to build a house for his Name “2 Samuel 7:13”
I thank God that he allowed me to have the privilege to be here in my lifetime as a reminder that I will live in the New Jerusalem in the New Earth with Him, And that all of us who are born again in spirit are spiritual Israelites. Romans 9:6–8
“For they are not all Israel who are of Israel… but the children of the promise are counted as the seed.”

Leviticus 23:15-16
From the day after the Sabbath, the day you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, count off seven full weeks. Count off fifty days up to the day after the seventh Sabbath,

Today is Day 44 of the Omer This day focuses on how strength, discipline, and justice are expressed through humility, dignity, and servant-hearted leadership.

Traditional Counting Blessing

(Recited after sunset before counting, if you have not yet counted that evening)

Hebrew (transliteration):

Baruch Atah Adonai Eloheinu Melech ha’olam,
asher kid’shanu b’mitzvotav v’tzivanu al sefirat ha’omer.

English:

“Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, who has sanctified us by His commandments and commanded us concerning the counting of the Omer.”

Then count:

“Today is forty-four days, which are six weeks and two days of the Omer.”

Reflection for Day 44

Strength without humility can become harshness.
Humility without strength can become passivity.

Today’s meditation asks:

* Do I use authority to serve or to control?
* Is my discipline producing peace and righteousness?
* Can I stand firm while remaining gentle before God?

A Scripture often connected with this theme is:

“He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?”
— Book of Micah 6:8

A Prayer for Today

Father in Heaven,
teach me to walk in strength that is surrendered to You.
Remove pride, harshness, and self-exaltation from my heart.
Let my words carry truth with mercy, and my actions reflect Your righteousness.
Help me lead, serve, correct, and stand firm with humility and love.
Establish Your kingdom within me as I prepare my heart for Your presence.
In Your holy name, amen.

At the Western Wall there is not the original Ark of the Covenant on display.

In the prayer areas near the Wall, there are synagogue-style “arks” called an Aron Kodesh (Holy Ark). These are sacred cabinets that contain:

* Torah scrolls
* Prayer books
* Sometimes decorative crowns, pointers, or coverings for the Torahs

According to Jewish tradition, the original Ark of the Covenant from the Tabernacle and Solomon’s Temple was hidden before the destruction of the First Temple and its location remains unknown.

The Western Wall itself is a retaining wall from the Temple Mount complex connected to the Second Temple period, making it the holiest accessible prayer site.

The Western Wall stretches about 1,600 feet total, though only part is visible today.
* The stones are enormous; some weigh hundreds of tons.
* Jews pray there because it is the closest accessible place to where the Holy of Holies once stood.
* Many place written prayers into the cracks between the stones.
* The visible wall today is only a fraction of the original structure; much remains underground.

You may also be thinking of famous surviving “arches” connected to the Temple Mount area, such as:

* Robinson’s Arch — remains of a monumental staircase and archway leading to the Temple Mount.
* Wilson’s Arch — a large ancient arch near the Western Wall that once supported a bridge.
* Arch of Titus — a Roman triumphal arch showing carvings of Temple treasures being carried away after 70 AD, including the menorah.

I never knew that this synagogue was here. What a powerful place of worship. I thought that I was going to be told that I couldn’t record in here or that maybe I wasn’t going to be allowed inside this Holy Place. But on the contrary. They showed that they have nothing to hide. Prayer is a way of life and necessary like when Moses stood praying with his hands lifted up while Joshua and the army won the battle while Moses hands remained up. Exodus 17:8-16
