The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, also known as Corpus Christi (“Body of Christ”), celebrates the Real Presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist and reminds us that the Church is the Body of Christ. First established for the universal Church by Pope Urban IV in 1264, this feast invites us to deepen our love for the Eucharist through worship, adoration, and service to others. Corpus Christi is also traditionally celebrated with Eucharistic processions as a public witness of faith and devotion to Christ present in the Blessed Sacrament.

“The procession with the Blessed Sacrament…reminds us that we are called to go out and bring Jesus to others. To go out with enthusiasm, bringing Christ to those we meet in our daily lives.”
Pope Francis, Homily on the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, 6 June 2021

“We entrust these streets, these homes, our daily life, to his goodness. May our streets be streets of Jesus! May our houses be homes for him and with him! May our life of every day be penetrated by his presence.” Pope Benedict XVI, Homily on Corpus Christi, 26 May 2005
