Unitarian Universalist Church of Canton New York

Unitarian Universalist Church of Canton New York A liberal religious community that honors all faith traditions. Worship services and religious education for children and youth Sunday mornings at 10:30.

We are a church that honors the inherent worth of every person and interdependence of all life. We look to our own experiences, each other's stories, wisdom from all the world's religions, science, art, nature, and many other sources for inspiration and guidance. We celebrate the diversity of people and ideas in our community and welcome the full participation of all, without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, class, or physical or mental challenge. We seek to put what we learn together into action to make our world a more just and compassionate place. We invite you to journey with us!

"How Simple Is It?"
Rev. Joseph Clevelend

Join UU minister and musician Rev. Joe for an exploration of the complexities of what Unitarian Universalists believe
with the help of the song “(Ours Is a) Simple Faith” by David Tamulevich.

Rev. Joseph Cleveland (he/him) is a banjo player, peanut butter and jelly sandwich maker, and Doctor Who fanatic from
Minnesota who’s made Central New York his home. After a brief ministry in central Michigan, he served the UU
Congregation of Saratoga Springs, NY, for more than ten years. Trained in both science and literature as well as religion,
Rev. Joe is fascinated by how we can find wonder and create meaning in our lives through music,

"Crossing the New Bridge"
Rev. Kimberley Debus

The inevitability of change doesn't mean we don't still struggle with it. How do we face new changes in ways that honor our past, acknowledge our stories, and energize us for the future?

We are excited to welcome the Rev. Kimberley Debus as our interim minister! Rev. Kimberley Debus is a minister based in the Washington DC Metro area, inspiring an artful and art-filled faith. She consults with congregations and religious professionals throughout the denomination. In addition to her consulting ministry, she also serves the Cedarhurst UUs in the greater Baltimore area, and writes about congregational life, worship, and other shenanigans on her weekly newsletter, Hold My Chalice.

Rev. Kimberley was raised by Unitarian parents and returned Unitarian Universalism in the 1990s during her years as an activist in North Carolina’s LGBTQ community. Rev. Kimberley has been known to burst out in song and will wax poetic about British panel shows, mysteries, trivia, and The West Wing. A native New Yorker, she makes her home in Takoma Park, MD, with her three tabby cats.

A new season of connection, care, joy, and rest for trans, non-binary, Two-Spirit, gender-expansive, intersex, gender-blessed, and gender non-conforming people—and those who love them.

The Woodlands returns September 6! 🌳

This monthly online spiritual community is beginning a new season of connection, care, joy, and rest for trans, non-binary, Two-Spirit, gender-expansive, intersex, gender-blessed, and gender non-conforming people—and those who love them.

And this year, The Woodlands is growing. We’re excited to introduce Sweetgums, a new dedicated space for the partners and spouses of trans people, alongside small community groups for trans youth and adults, parents, caregivers, and families.

Rooted in Unitarian Universalist values, The Woodlands offers a space where trans lives are not up for debate or explanation, but are honored as sacred, whole, and worthy of care.

Monthly gatherings resume September 6 at 5 p.m. Eastern / 2 p.m. Pacific.
