Unitarian Universalist Church of Canton New York

Unitarian Universalist Church of Canton New York A liberal religious community that honors all faith traditions. Worship services and religious education for children and youth Sunday mornings at 10:30.

We are a church that honors the inherent worth of every person and interdependence of all life. We look to our own experiences, each other's stories, wisdom from all the world's religions, science, art, nature, and many other sources for inspiration and guidance. We celebrate the diversity of people and ideas in our community and welcome the full participation of all, without regard to race, gende

r, sexual orientation, class, or physical or mental challenge. We seek to put what we learn together into action to make our world a more just and compassionate place. We invite you to journey with us!

We will welcome some special guests in religious education this Sunday, June 21. We will have an opportunity to meet author, Denise Lawson, as she reads her newest book in the Black Bear Sled Dog series, “Delilah and the Lilacs”. This book is about a local dog and her retirement at North Country Lilacs. Meet Delilah and some of her relatives, and learn about the lives of sled dogs in Alaska and how they are trained. We will be meeting outside, so please come dressed for the weather.

"The Inward and Outward Walk"
The Rev. James Galasinski

The journey of life is hardly ever a straight path. We circle around certain themes and meanings. We meander and linger. We go inward and outward. Life is like a labyrinth.

Find your way with walking the labyrinth and rising up with social action!

"Building a Better World: Religious Education Sunday"
Carol Zimmerman, DRE and UU Kids

During religious education this year, our 3rd-6th graders have been creating a role playing world which supports our UU Values of Justice, Equity, Transformation, Pluralism, Interdependence and Generosity. Come hear what they decided would make the world a better place and determine what personal characteristics you bring to make the world we currently live in a better place. We will also honor all the teachers and assistants who served in the RE teaching ministry this year.

Come to worship this Sunday, May 31 at 10:30am!

"What Are Your Modern Scriptures?"
Robin Collen and Doug Rubio

“Modern Scriptures” is a concept created by journalist Sam Sanders, that refers to movies, music, books, artworks, theatre/dance-works, and pop culture that individuals return to repeatedly for grounding, comfort, and wisdom. These works act as secular/sacred guideposts for navigating life, joy, and adversity. During this service we will explore some of our personal modern scriptures and the reasons behind their impact on our lives.
