In today’s Gospel, Jesus is presented with a question designed to trap Him: “Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar?” Rather than taking the bait, Jesus shifts the focus to something much deeper. Holding up a coin bearing Caesar’s image, He says, “Repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God.”

The coin belongs to Caesar because it bears his image. But we belong to God because we bear His image.

This Gospel invites us to reflect on where our true allegiance lies. We spend much of our lives meeting responsibilities, paying bills, and caring for daily obligations. But do we give God what belongs to Him—our hearts, our trust, our time, and our love?

Every person we meet today is created in the image of God, including ourselves. May we remember that our deepest identity is not found in what we own, accomplish, or achieve, but in the God who created us and calls us His own.

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Blessed Trinity — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, three Persons in one God. While the Trinity is a mystery beyond our full understanding, it is at the heart of our Catholic faith.
As we journey through this week, take a moment to pray: “Glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; to God who is, who was, and who is to come.” Ask the Holy Spirit to deepen your faith and draw you closer to the mystery of God's love.

In today’s Gospel, the blind man Bartimaeus reminds us what real faith looks like. Sitting by the roadside with nothing to offer except his need, he cries out: “Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me.” While others try to silence him, Bartimaeus refuses to give up hope — and Jesus stops to listen.
How often do we try to appear strong and self-sufficient, instead of bringing our struggles honestly before God? Bartimaeus teaches us that sometimes the most powerful prayer is simply the cry of the heart: “Lord, have pity on me.”
When Jesus calls him, Bartimaeus throws aside his cloak and runs toward Him, leaving behind the very thing that once gave him security. Faith asks the same of us — to let go of fear, old wounds, and anything that keeps us from fully following Christ.
And when Jesus asks, “What do you want me to do for you?” Bartimaeus answers: “Master, I want to see.”
May that become our prayer this week:
Lord, help us to see — to see You more clearly, to see others with compassion, and to recognize the path You are calling us to follow.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us that true greatness is not found in power, recognition, or status, but in humble service. While the disciples were focused on honor and position, Jesus pointed them toward sacrifice, love, and self-giving.

“The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve.”

In a world that encourages us to seek attention and success, Christ calls us to something deeper — to serve with compassion, to love generously, and to follow Him with trust and humility. Often, the quiet acts of kindness and hidden sacrifices offered each day are the very moments that reflect the heart of Christ most clearly.

May we ask God this week for hearts willing to serve as Jesus served.

Pentecost Sunday - There is a spirit of enthusiasm and joy in today’s readings. Filled with the Holy Spirit, the disciples could not remain silent about the mighty acts of God. Though each received different gifts, all were given by the same Holy Spirit for the building up of the Body of Christ.
At our Baptism and Confirmation, the Holy Spirit poured out on us the gifts we need to faithfully follow Christ. This Pentecost, let us ask for the grace of renewed enthusiasm, joy, and hope — trusting that the Spirit continues to work powerfully within each one of us.
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and rekindle in them — and in me — the fire of your love!

With joyful hearts and willing hands, members of our Youth Ministry recently prepared and served a meal for guests at Fr. Bill’s Place in Quincy, living out Christ’s call to serve with love and compassion. Through simple acts of kindness, our young people shared not only food, but also dignity, hope, and the love of Christ with others.
Small acts of love can make a big difference in the lives of those who are struggling. May we all continue to be the hands and feet of Christ in our community.
