CANTON CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN PRESENTS "AS I HAVE LOVED YOU"
MARCH 29, 2026 9:30 A.M.
A new, multi-focus music and meditations Easter service, As I Have Loved You, will be presented on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at the Canton Church of the Brethren, 269 E. Chestnut Street in Canton. The uplifting service is open to anyone seeking reassuring moments in turbulent times.
As I Have Loved You was conceived and written by Carol Davis along with contributing writers Chad Murphy and Lindsey Larson, who is also the storyteller. The service seeks to offer solace by blending the stories of Jesus of Nazareth with modern day experiences. Through a variety of sacred and contemporary music selections performed by the full choir and ensembles, instrumental music reflection pieces, and words of hope and promise, the hour-long service offers moments of reassurance to a weary world.
Choir members include Aja Lawson, Melissa Walker, Denise Kirgan, Robin Henry, Tammy Kessler, Jessica Sparenberg, Tammy Weaver, Colin Davis, Ed Carper, Chad Murphy, Trygve Meade, and Kevin Kessler. The choir is accompanied on piano by Pamela Willison with Al Rindfleisch on electric bass and Drake Miller on oboe and flute.
The Canton Church of the Brethren welcomes the talents of Drake Baldwin Miller as featured guest oboist and flautist. Drake is pursuing his Bachelor of Music, Music Performance degree at Western Illinois University where he is principal oboist with the WIU Symphony Orchestra and the WIU Wind Ensemble. He is also a highly sought-after instrumental soloist, playing the oboe and English Horn with the Knox-Galesburg Symphony, the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra, and the Quincy Youth Area Chorus. In Spring 2025, Drake won the WIU School of Music Concerto Competition.
A free and open-to-all Easter themed brunch will follow for all who wish to remain after the service.
