“Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.” — John 6:54

In today’s Gospel, Jesus reveals the gift of Himself in the Eucharist. He is not offering a symbol, but His very life: true food and true drink for the salvation of the world.

To receive Him is to remain in Him, to be nourished by His presence, and to share in the promise of eternal life.

🙏 Lord, deepen our love for the Eucharist, strengthen our faith in Your presence, and draw us ever closer to You.

On Memorial Day, we pause to remember those who gave their lives in service to our country, and to honor the sacrifice that makes our freedom possible.

We also remember the many members of the Knights of Columbus who have served with courage and faith, answering the call to defend both God and country. Their legacy lives on in those who continue to serve, protect, and lead with integrity.

We pray for the souls of the fallen, for the comfort of their families, and for peace in our world. May their courage and selfless love never be forgotten.

“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations.” — Matthew 28:19

In today’s Gospel, the risen Jesus sends His disciples on mission. Even in their uncertainty, He entrusts them with the work of sharing the Good News and baptizing in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

He does not send them alone. His promise is clear: “I am with you always.”

We are part of that mission today, called to witness to Christ in our homes, our communities, and the world.

🙏 Lord, give us courage to share Your truth and trust in Your presence every step of the way.

Today, we're sharing an important update from our President & CEO, Fr. Tim McCabe. As the number of guests visiting our Day Center continues to rise, we are making difficult but necessary decisions to help ensure that we can continue serving our community safely and sustainably.

Over the next few weeks, we will be discontinuing clothing distribution at the Day Center, with limited exceptions for new underwear, socks, and - in the case of a true emergency - scrubs. As such, we will put a pause on accepting in-kind clothing donations.

These decisions were not made lightly, but with care, reflection, and a commitment to meeting the increasing challenges facing our neighbors experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. We recognize that clothing is an essential need. We are grateful that there are a number of Detroit organizations that are well positioned to help - and we will be ready to direct our guests to those partners.

We invite you to read Fr. Tim’s full letter here: https://popefranciscenter.org/serving-with-sustainability-responding-to-increasing-community-need/

Thank you for continuing to walk alongside us with compassion, flexibility, and hope.

Today, we say thank you.

For the work you do, day in and day out.
For the steadiness, the patience, and the care you give, even when it goes unnoticed.
For every woman who mothers, in families, in friendships, in quiet, everyday ways.
And we’re grateful for the example of Mary, our Mother, who shows us what faithful love looks like.

We don’t always say it, but we are always grateful.

Happy Mother’s Day 💐

“Were not our hearts burning within us while he spoke to us on the way?” — Luke 24:32

In today’s Gospel, the risen Jesus walks alongside two disciples on the road to Emmaus. Though they do not recognize Him at first, He listens to their sorrow, opens the Scriptures to them, and reveals Himself in the breaking of the bread.

Christ still meets us on the road, in our questions, our disappointments, and our hopes. When we listen to His word and encounter Him in the Eucharist, our eyes are opened and our hearts are set ablaze with faith.

🙏 Lord, stay with us on our journey. Open our eyes to Your presence and kindle our hearts with the joy of the Resurrection.

This Easter, many dioceses in the United States and around the world reported a surge in the number of converts received into the Catholic Church. In his recent column for Columbia, Supreme Chaplain Archbishop William Lori, whose archdiocese welcomed more than 2,000 converts this year, reflects on this growing attraction to Catholicism, particularly among young people. “The reason is that at the heart of the Church is something real — indeed, ‘really real,’” he writes. “It is the person of Christ, made present by the Holy Spirit.”
