One of the greatest dangers in the Church today is when people begin to pursue a man instead of pursuing God.

Many run after celebrity preachers, famous ministries, and influential platforms believing, “If I can just get close to them, they’ll open the door for me.” But have we forgotten who opens doors? Have we forgotten who promotes? Have we forgotten who raises up and who brings down?

When Israel demanded a king, they were essentially saying, “We want what everyone else has. We need a man to lead us.” They took their eyes off the God who had delivered them, provided for them, and fought their battles. They looked to a human solution instead of their heavenly King (1 Samuel .

Look at David. David did not chase a platform. He did not campaign for a throne. He did not build a following. He worshiped God in fields where nobody was watching. He praised God when the audience was sheep. He developed intimacy in secret, and God promoted him publicly.

Today many want the crown, but few want the cave. Many want the spotlight, but few want the secret place. Many want to stand beside the famous man or woman of God, hoping they can make something happen for them, while neglecting the One who holds all authority in heaven and earth.

The Lord is looking for those who will seek His face when nobody is watching. Those who desire His presence more than popularity. Those who want His approval more than public recognition.

Your destiny is not in the hands of a celebrity preacher.

Your calling is not locked behind a famous ministry.

Your promotion does not come from man.

It comes from God.

The same God who found David in a field can find you. The same God who opened doors for Joseph in a prison can open doors for you. The same God who called fishermen and turned them into world changers can do the same today.

Stop chasing platforms.

Start chasing His presence.

When God is enough, you’ll discover He was always the One who could make it happen.

Motives matter to God.

Just because someone does something good for you doesn’t always mean they did it with the right intentions.

Someone can help, give, serve, or show kindness outwardly—but inwardly the motive could be control, recognition, manipulation, pride, guilt, or wanting something in return.

Jesus warned us in Matthew 6 not to give, pray, or fast just to be seen by people. The action may look spiritual, but the motive can make it empty.

Proverbs 16:2 says, “All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirit.”

God doesn’t just look at what we do.
He looks at why we do it.

That’s why discernment is so important. Not every gift is innocent. Not every favor is pure. Not every open door is from God. And not every person who helps you is helping with holy intentions.

Real love doesn’t manipulate.
Real kindness doesn’t come with strings attached.
Real service doesn’t seek applause.

A pure motive says:
“I did this because I love God and I love you.”

An impure motive says:
“I did this so you owe me, notice me, trust me, praise me, or let me control the situation.”

Lord, purify our motives and sharpen our discernment. Help us do the right things for the right reasons, and help us recognize when something looks good on the outside but carries wrong intentions underneath.

God cares about the heart behind the hand.

Happy 12th Birthday to my son, Gabriel! 🎉💙

Gabriel, you are truly the best son God could have ever given me. My life would be incomplete without you, and I honestly don’t know how I could love you any more than I already do.

You bring me so much joy and happiness. You are the funniest kid ever, the smartest kid I know, and one of the greatest blessings of my life. You are inventive, intelligent, kind, loving, humble, witty, giving, compassionate, creative, and so much more. You are the missing puzzle piece to my life that I never even knew I needed.

I will always look out for you. I will always be there for you. There will never come a day where I am not by your side, cheering you on and believing in you.

Your daddy and I are so proud of you, and I know God is too. I can just imagine the Lord smiling down on you, because you truly do have clean hands and a pure heart. I believe this is why the Lord gave you the name Gabriel and gave your ministry the name Holy Nation.

Gabriel, may the Lord take you higher this year. May He take you deeper into the revelation of who He is and how much He loves you. May you never compromise, and may you continue becoming the man of God He has called you to be.

🔥”Who’s willing to walk through the fire?”🔥

That question will separate comfort from consecration.

Because everybody wants the promise…
but not everybody wants the process.

Everybody wants the oil…
but not everybody wants the crushing.

Everybody wants to be used by God…
but not everybody wants to be refined by Him.

Fire is not always punishment. Sometimes fire is preparation.

Sometimes God allows the heat to reveal what is really in us.
Will we bow when pressure comes?
Will we compromise when it gets uncomfortable?
Will we still say yes when obedience costs us something?

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego did not meet God outside the fire.

They met Him in it.

And that is the word for somebody today:

The fire may be hot, but you are not alone.
The trial may be real, but so is His presence.
The refining may be painful, but it is producing purity, power, and deeper surrender.

God is looking for those who will say:

“Lord, I trust You in the blessing, and I trust You in the burning. I will not bow. I will not quit. I will not compromise. If You are with me, I can walk through the fire.”

Prayer:

Lord, give me the courage to walk through the fire with You. Burn away fear, pride, compromise, and everything in me that cannot go where You are taking me. Refine my heart, purify my motives, and strengthen my yes. Help me stand when pressure comes and trust that You are with me in the flames. I will not bow to fear. I will not run from refining. I choose obedience, surrender, and faith. In Jesus’ name, amen.

God cares way more about your character than He does about your gift, because your gift can open a door, but your character determines whether you can stay faithful once you get there.

A gift can impress people, but character reflects Christ.

The Bible says:

“A man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before the great.”
— Proverbs 18:16

But the Bible also says:

“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.”
— Galatians 5:22-23

Notice it does not say the evidence of the Spirit is only preaching, singing, prophesying, teaching, or talent. The evidence of the Spirit is fruit.

Your gift shows what God gave you.
Your character shows what you have allowed God to form in you.

That is why Jesus said:

“You will know them by their fruits.”
— Matthew 7:16

He did not say, “You will know them by their platform.”
He did not say, “You will know them by their anointing.”
He did not say, “You will know them by how powerful they sound.”

He said you will know them by their fruit.

Because a person can be gifted and still be prideful.
They can be talented and still be unsubmitted.
They can be anointed for a moment and still lack humility, love, patience, and integrity.

Even in 1 Corinthians 13, Paul makes it clear that you can have spiritual gifts and still miss the heart of God:

“If I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge… but have not love, I am nothing.”
— 1 Corinthians 13:2

That means love weighs more than ability.
Humility weighs more than visibility.
Obedience weighs more than applause.
Purity weighs more than performance.

God does not just want to use you. He wants to form you.

Your gift may bless people, but your character protects people. Your gift may draw attention, but your character brings glory to God. Your gift may make people say, “They are talented,” but your character makes people say, “They have been with Jesus.”

So never let your gift grow faster than your character. Let God prune you, correct you, humble you, and mature you. Because when your character can carry what your gift attracts, you become someone God can trust with more.
