Spirit of the Living God, temper our souls with grace. Train us in the quiet disciplines of love. Make us holy, not by force, but by fire. Shape us for relationships, refine us for freedom.
Before we speak, we pause. Before we react, we breathe. Self-control is not silence, it is surrender. It is the Spirit’s gentle hand, tempering our impulses, so that love may speak louder than anger, and holiness may shape our freedom.

While working on this week's service I happened to find a reference to the 12th Psalm. After reading those verse's I realized that the human race has not really made significant changes in how we act.
As you read this psalm remember it was written about 1015BC
1 Help, Lord, for no one is faithful anymore; those who are loyal have vanished from the human race.
2 Everyone lies to their neighbor; they flatter with their lips but harbor deception in their hearts.
3 May the Lord silence all flattering lips and every boastful tongue—
4 those who say, By our tongues we will prevail;
our own lips will defend us—who is lord over us?”
5 “Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan, I will now arise,” says the Lord. “I will protect them from those who malign them.”
6 And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold[c] refined seven times.
7 You, Lord, will keep the needy safe and will protect us forever from the wicked,
8 who freely strut about when what is vile is honored by the human race

The Importance of Prayer
When we occupy ourselves with and accept the teaching of God's Word on prayer, we start to see how the failure of our prayer-life relates to failure in our Spirit-life.

Prayer is one of the most heavenly and spiritual of the functions of the Spirit-life. How can we try or expect to fulfil it so that we please God? To do so then our soul needs to be a state of health to accept his blessings.

If our prayer life is truly possessed and moved by God's Spirit. Then our insight into the manner God means prayer to take, will show us if we have been living the true abundant life that we should.

We must accept and appreciate that God is the center of our prayer life, as such He wants to live in us. The impact of a sincere prayer life is breathed into us in the measure that our surrender and our faith enable it.

Something to Consider:
Christianity has remained at the forefront of the nation's political and social conversations for centuries — but new research shows that could be changing.

A new report by Pew Research Center and the General Social Survey published on Tuesday found that the large numbers of people in the U.S who practice Christianity are declining. The religion's demographic has been dwindling since the 1990s, the report said, as many adults transition to an identity of atheist, agnostic or "nothing in particular."

In the early '90s, about 90% of people in the U.S. identified as Christians, the report said. In 2020, Christians accounted for about 64% of the U.S. population, including children. Meanwhile, those who are not affiliated with a religion has grown from 16% in 2007 to 30% in 2020, according to the research. All other religions, including Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism, accounted for about 6% in 2020.
