Jesus commanded his followers to love each other as he loved them. The highest expression of love people could have for others is to lay down their lives for them—just as Jesus did for those he loved. We must love each other sacrificially, as Jesus loved us. He loved us enough to give his life for us. We may not have to die for someone, but we can practice sacrificial love in many other ways: listening, helping, encouraging, giving. We do not need to feel love for everyone. Some people will be difficult to love, but still we are commanded to act lovingly toward our fellow believers.

We must trust God daily to provide what he knows we need. The word today suggests that we should not worry about what God already knows we need. Believers must trust God for provision and not worry. That God gives daily food does not negate people’s responsibility to work. Instead, it acknowledges that God is Sustainer and Provider.

So how can believers pray that way? How do they know what is God’s will? This happens as a part of their growth in their relationship with Jesus Christ. When people choose to place their will in line with God’s will, the Holy Spirit in them will teach them to understand God’s will more completely. The Holy Spirit reveals God’s will as it is taught in the Bible.
