A woman walked out of Ravensbrรผck at the end of December, 1944. ๐๏ธ
She always said a clerical error opened the gate.
She had been arrested in Haarlem ten months earlier, with her whole family, for hiding their Jewish neighbors.
Her sister Betsie died in that camp, nine days before Christmas.
And before she died, Betsie said the line this video is named for: ๐
"There is no pit so deep that God's love is not deeper still."
Read that again, and notice where the light is.
Not above the pit. Deeper than it. ๐ซ
Here is what she did with that.
She went home, and she opened a house. First for people who had come out of the camps. Then โ and this is the part that is hard to explain โ for the people who had collaborated. ๐
In 1947, in Munich, a man came up to her after she spoke. He had been a guard at Ravensbrรผck. He put out his hand and asked her to forgive him.
And here is the verse this video hangs on:
"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."
Romans 12:21 ESV
She took his hand.
Her name was Corrie ten Boom. โจ
That verse is not advice for easy weeks. It was written for people with something real to forgive โ and it is still the only thing that actually ends a cycle.
So pray for the persecuted church, in every country where meeting together still costs something. And pray for hearts that refuse hatred, including your own. ๐
And the prayer Scripture gives us by name:
"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! May they be secure who love you!"
Psalm 122:6 ESV
On October 7, beginning at the Western Wall and moving through every time zone, believers keep one unbroken day of prayer. ๐ฎ๐ฑ
One hour of it is yours. Take it.
Pray for the nations. Pray for Jerusalem.
