OCTOBER 2026 NEWSLETTER
A HEARTFELT THANK YOU
The priests and brothers of St. Paul Monastery extend their most sincere appreciation for your remarkable generosity. Because of your kindness, we were able to raise the funds needed to blacktop the drive and parking areas. God bless each of you for your donations and your prayers.
We also extend a sincere thank you to Tom Snyder of Snyder Enterprises who repaired the crumbling stairway on the west side of the store building. We were able to see firsthand the amount of labor and material needed to safely remove this hazardous area, and are deeply grateful for your labor and your generosity. God bless you, Tom.
A special thank you to Steve for installing the new tile in the Shrine. We appreciate your labor and your dedication. Blessings!
Pantalone Paving will begin work on Monday, October 12. The driveway will remain usable during preparation. When the asphalt is poured, the work will be done in two phases—half at a time—so cars will still be able to enter the property. You may need to park on one side (east or west) and walk to the other as each section is completed. We expect this phase to take place around October 14.
HONORING OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY THROUGHOUT OCTOBER
In 1883, Pope Leo XIII dedicated the month of October to the Blessed Mother through the prayer of the Rosary. Continuing this beautiful tradition, Pope Leo XIV invites us to renew our devotion by praying the Rosary throughout the month, asking Our Lady for grace, protection, and guidance. We begin the month by honoring Our Lady of the Rosary on her feast day, October 7.
SPECIAL DAYS IN OCTOBER
October 1 – Foundation of Society of St. Paul in the USA – Fr. Francis Borrano, SSP, arrived in New York on October 1, 1931 marking the beginning of the American Foundation of the Society of St. Paul.
October 19 – Blessed Timothy Giaccardo - Blessed Timothy Giaccardo—ordained in 1919—was the first priest to join the Society of St. Paul. His dedication helped shape the early Pauline mission: he founded the Society’s first house in Rome (still active today) and served as an important bridge between Father Alberione and the Holy Father during the approval of the Congregation. He was beatified by St. John Paul II in 1990.
October 22 – Saint John Paul II - Saint John Paul II, born Karol Józef Wojtyła, served as Pope from 1978 to 2005. He was the first non Italian pope in more than four centuries and one of the longest serving in Church history. His deep faith, philosophical insight, and pastoral leadership continue to inspire Catholics around the world.
October 25 – Jesus The Divine Master - The feast of Jesus the Divine Master is at the very heart of the Society of St. Paul’s identity, spirituality, and mission. Every branch of the Pauline Family celebrates this solemnity because Blessed James Alberione built the entire Pauline charism around Jesus as Master, Way, Truth, and Life.
May the Holy Spirit continue to guide us along this journey.
