Charter members of Cane Hill Congregation (Cumberland Presbyterian), Aug. 30, 1828: Jacob Pyeatte, James Buchanan, Elizabeth Buchanan, Coleman Cox, Polly Cox, Patsy Billingsley, Wm. Maxwell, Ann Maxwell, James Billingsley, Matilda Billingsley, Thomas Tiner, Benjamin Garvin, Rachel Garvin, Samuel Carnahan, Polly Carnahan, Wm. Billingsley, John Reed, Poly Reed, Charles Pettigrew, Nancy Pettigrew, W

illiam Reed, Peggy Reed, Rebecca Garvin, Matilda Benge, Lavinia Pyeatte, Martha Pyeatte, Isaac Buchanan, Naomi Buchanan, John Buchanan, J. King, Sally King, Sarah Haguewood, Robert Buchanan, Polly Buchanan. Earliest Records of Salem Congregation (Cumberland Presbyterian) were burnt during the Civil War. The church was reorganized in 1868, with about 45 members. This church met in the College chapel until 1919 when they bought the building on the highway. In 1905 Salem re-affiliated with Presbyterian Church USA and became known as First Presbyterian. Mount Bethel (Presbyterian US, i.e. Southern) was organized in 1889 and built the current building in 1891. Charter Mount Bethel members were: Joseph H. Moore, C. Lafayette Moore, Mary Ethel Moore, A. Ross Moore, Thomas H. Moore, James Ross, Lizzie Ross, Lucy Ross, William A. Ross, Harvey Ross, Mary Kirby, Mary E. Bullen, Anthony R. Carroll, S. Belle Carroll, Mary E. Ross, Hattie Ross, Sallie Ross, Nancy M. Babb, Bessie Lyons Kirby, J. E. Kirby. This church disbanded in 1919 and sold the building to First Presbyterian.

The church is excited to welcome the string quartet from Symphony of NW Arkansas to the church this Sunday afternoon. This is a Historic Cane Hill event. Tickets are free, but seating is limited, so reserve a place at https://historiccanehillar.org/calendar/

The performance starts at 2 pm and 4 pm and lasts about an hour.
