We loved gathering for worship yesterday.

Our sermon focused on Jesus’ words in Matthew 28:16–20—the Great Commission—and the call to make disciples, not just attend church.

Wherever you are on your faith journey, this message is a reminder that following Jesus is meant to be lived out and shared.

This week we’re slowing down and taking Jesus at his word:

“As you go… make disciples.”

For many of us, the Great Commission can feel big… heavy… maybe even intimidating.

We wonder:
Do I know enough?
Am I ready?
Isn’t that for pastors or missionaries?

But when you read the passage closely, something beautiful shows up.

The disciples weren’t confident or impressive.
They worshiped… and some hesitated.

And Jesus came near anyway.

Because mission doesn’t flow from our ability —
it flows from closeness to Jesus.

So instead of adding more pressure, we created a simple 5-day devotional to help us:
• draw near to Christ
• remember his presence
• and take small, everyday steps of faithfulness

Nothing complicated.
Just learning to follow Jesus in ordinary life… and inviting others along.

If you’d like to walk through it with us this week, you can find it here:

Let’s stay close to Jesus —
and as we go… trust Him to do the rest.

Good morning, church family ☀️

Today we gather around one of Jesus’ final and clearest words to his followers — the Great Commission.

Anything called great can feel overwhelming.
Great responsibility. Great calling. Great purpose.

And if we’re honest, making disciples of “all nations” can sound too big for ordinary people like us.

But here’s the comfort: Jesus never gives a command that depends on our ability alone. Before he sends his disciples, he draws near and promises, “I am with you always.”

The mission isn’t powered by talent or personality.
It flows from closeness to Jesus.

So whether you feel confident or hesitant this morning, come. Worship. Draw near. Let’s learn together what it means to follow him “as we go.”

Anything called great can feel a little intimidating.

The Grand Canyon. The Great Outdoors. The Great Commission.

When Jesus tells his followers to “go and make disciples of all nations,” it can sound too big… too heavy… maybe even impossible. How could ordinary people like us ever succeed at something that great?

But here’s the good news:
Jesus would never send us to accomplish something that depends on our strength alone.

Before he gives the commission, he comes near.
Before he sends them out, he promises, “I am with you always.”

The mission of the church doesn’t rest on having the right skills or personality. It rests on staying close to Jesus and walking with him as we go.

This Sunday we’ll discover the true purpose of the church through the Great Commission—and how “success” begins with nearness to Christ, not extraordinary ability.

Proverbs 28:13 reminds us that God isn’t looking for perfection—He’s inviting us into mercy. When we stop covering and start surrendering, grace does the healing work.

Let us pray together. Where do you need mercy to meet you today?

God doesn’t just tell us to love our neighbors—He enlarges our hearts so we can.
When our identity is rooted in Him, love flows naturally… not from striving or performance, but from who we are in Christ.

How does knowing you’re already loved change the way you love others?

5-Day Devotional: Love People

Jesus said the second greatest commandment is this: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:39)

Most of us want to love people… but love gets tested when we’re tired, stressed, and stretched thin—when our “neighbor” becomes inconvenient, difficult, or draining.

This week’s 5-day devotional isn’t about trying harder. It’s about asking God to enlarge our hearts so love can flow from our identity as His sons and daughters—not from our own strength.

📖 Join us as we reflect, pray, and take simple steps of obedience together.

Good morning, church family! ☀️

We’d love to have you join us for worship this morning, at 10:00 AM Candia Congregational Church as we continue our Alignment series and spend time in Matthew 22:36–40—especially Jesus’ command to love our neighbor as ourselves.

Sometimes loving (and even liking!) people is hard… but God doesn’t give this command to burden us—He gives it to shape us into people who reflect His heart. ❤️

Hey Church Fam! ❄️

Just a quick update for this Sunday — the snow is still expected, but it looks like it won’t really move in until the afternoon, so we’re planning to gather as normal for worship.

It may be a bit chilly in the sanctuary, so feel free to bring a blanket (and maybe an extra cozy layer 😊).

We can’t wait to worship with you and keep our hearts aligned with Jesus together. ❤️

See you Sunday! 🙌

Let’s be honest… sometimes loving people is hard. 😅
And if we’re really honest, sometimes even liking people can feel hard.

That’s why one of the most challenging commandments Jesus gives is this:
“Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:39)

But God doesn’t give us this commandment to crush us with guilt—He gives it to form us into the kind of people who reflect His heart… and to shape us into a community that looks like His Kingdom.

This Sunday at Candia Congregational Church, we’ll be digging into Matthew 22:36–40 and talking about:
✅ why God calls us to love our neighbor
✅ what “as yourself” really means
✅ how the gospel gives us the power to live it out
