GOD’S GIVEN IMMUNE SYSTEM

The human body has an amazing immune system that can activate an army of defenders to keep it from getting sick and when we do get sick to fight it off! A healthy human body is remarkable. God is Amazing!

The Body of Christ (the church) faces illness and battles sicknesses too. God in His wisdom, has given the church a remarkable immune system as well. WHAT IS IT? Why do some churches grow and seem to be getting healthier, while others succumb to various illnesses?

For those of you who have been in the church a minute you know the answer is complex (a 300-level college class at least). BUT IS IT?

What if you defended various germs (quarrels and opinions to name a few) with LOVE & FORGIVENESS? COULD IT POSSIBLY BE THAT SIMPLE? Is this God’s designed immune system for you & for the church? ? Starting this Sunday April 26th, I’ll present part one (Lord willin’) of a two-part series and finish it up on May 3rd, 2026.

For the first lesson we will stay (“bound by contract” and LOVE) with Romans 14-15, and then in the second lesson, we will attempt a deep dive into the APPLICATION of FORGIVENESS and LOVE.

You may think the examination of the church's spiritual immune system is naively simple, but think about it… If we live out the teachings of Romans and then apply the LOVE & FORGIVENESS spoken of by the Apostle Paul in Colossians 3… the church will be building up a solid immune system and enjoy the blessings of a healthy body.

“Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, FORGIVING each other; as the Lord has FORGIVEN you, so you also must FORGIVE. And above all these put on LOVE, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.” Colossians 3:13-14

How is your REASON.....YOUR WHY? Yesterday the lesson was answering a couple of those Whys. Here is the lesson. BTW....Next weeks Lesson is the "I should's & I should not's" of Titus ch.3

How do we make and encourage stronger families in the world - and, specifically, Canby, Oregon, today? This Sunday, Ron will begin a series, taking a deeper look at the role of each family member. The plan is to discuss one of these roles on the even months this year, starting with DAD. What does society expect of you, DAD, and what does God expect of you? Lovers of metaphors and figurative language have so much to enjoy with the Word of God. God is a poet! Poetry and metaphorical language are elevated written forms, so it is no wonder that God uses them so frequently in scripture. Using visuals that we can easily understand gives us great insight into the kind of people that God has called us to be, and helps us to connect familiar concepts to more complex ones. Our brains are actually wired to better remember the vivid and emotional imagery involved in this form of language.

This Sunday, February 8, we will look at verses in Matthew and the second book of Timothy, where inspired writers have encouraged us to be light and salt, soldiers and farmers, in our Christian walk. Please come and be our honored guests as we dive into the wonderful Word of God! We love visitors and look forward to meeting you!

The church in Canby is a family, desiring to work together to serve God and each other, and to model ourselves after the church that Christ established and heads. On Sunday mornings, we meet at 9:30 am for Bible classes for all ages. Our worship services, focused on the Lord’s supper, congregational singing, and a lesson, begin at 10:30 am. Midweek, we gather again for all-age Bible classes on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm. Please join us any time you can! God is GOOD !!! I am Blessed to work for Him and a wonderful congregation of just over 100 souls. This Sunday the lesson will be (Lord willin) the answer to this sermon request: (Eph. ch. 5 walking with the Lord & walking with your spouse). Two of my favorites :) We only have seating for about 140 so get here early, and stay late so we can get to know you :)
One of our Elders (Chuck Ford) has been teaching a very interesting Bible class on some of the Old Testament Characters, like Abraham, Joshua, Caleb and this week Samson, it is a very informative & interesting study (Starting at 9:30 A.M.) We invite you to join us !
