We took youth from our area on a wilderness weekend on 6/21-6/22. It was an event put on by our ministry partner Kicking Bear Ministries and was hosted by the folks at Deerasic Park Education Center. It was an amazing weekend in which the youth got to experience camping, fishing, canoeing, archery, pellet guns and field games such as tug -of-war. There was even a marshmallow war with over 400 kids plus adults taking part! This was the first time that the kids got to experience most of these things! It was an event that opened them up to the great outdoors and the beauty of God's creation. During the trip, the youth heard the testimony of Kicking Bear Founder Ray Howell and a gospel message. At the end of the service, 3 of the our kids accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior! The kids meet with staff from The Martin Center and camp counselors to ensure that the kids understood their decision and were given their first Bibles! The next day we spent time discussions Christ and some key passages with them. It was such an incredible blessing to be a part of their coming to Christ. Please lift them up in prayer as we continue to disciple them in their new walk with Christ!

The Martin Center Community Garden 2013 has been planted! Over this memorial day weekend, we were blessed with beautiful weather to plant our community garden. More than a dozen volunteers turned out to help. These incredible volunteers planted over 250 plants plus a dozen rows of seeds. The garden has a wide variety of plants this year. We have various types of tomatoes, sweet and hot peppers, potatoes,onions, basil, cabbage, zucchini, peas, spinach, lettuce and pumpkins! It was a simply amazing day of planting food for and developing relationships with our community! It was truly a blessed event and we are eternally grateful for the volunteers who assisted us and humbled by the blessings of the donations of the plants by our community partners - North Canton Repair, Greens and Things Nursery and our friends at Beech Mennonite Church and the volunteers from the family ministry at First Christian Church. The Martin Center attended a Kicking Bear Ministries event.

We were blessed to take some children to experience new outdoor activities. We went to a Kicking Bear Ministries event at Hadley's Archery in Akron. It was a blessed time for all. The kids really enjoyed learning new activities such as archery, fishing and tomahawk throwing. We also had a tug-o-war (boys vs. girls and the girls won) and a time to draw wildlife pictures. Kicking Bear is a wonderful ministry that also strives to reach inner city youth. Thank you to Hadley's Archery for hosting this event.

SPRING IS HERE!!! That means it time for us to spruce things up outside. The Martin Center is currently getting the soil in the community garden ready for planting. We need volunteers to help us with planting, watering and weeding the garden. If you are interested please call us at 330-854-2227.

The Martin Center been blessed with the donation of a 60-inch flat screen HDTV and a handmade entertainment center for our youth room this week. The Lord continues to inspire others to be very generous to us as we reach out to teens and young adults here in SE Canton!

We want to take this opportunity to inform everyone about an incredible blessing that was received this past week. ChildReach Ministries was awarded a grant from the KT Community Foundation. The KT Community Foundation is an outreach foundation of DaVita, one of the nations largest dialysis companies. Childreach Ministries was awarded this grant to assist with the fire proof doors that are needed as one of the final steps to allowing us to get the inspection that will lead to utilization of the first 2 floors of The Martin Center!

We are humbled by this blessing and are grateful as it allows us to be that much closer to fulfilling our call to reach those in need right here in Canton! We also want to thank all of you who continue to support us through your donations of resources, time and prayer. We could never do this without you!

We are starting our open gym times at The Martin Center and we need YOUR help! We will be having open gym on Dec 22 from 9am-noon and Dec 27th, 28th, 29th and 31st from 3pm-6pm. We need help with sign-in, concessions, being a monitor in the gym and just being present to begin to meet and develop relationships with the teens in our area!

Please join us as we pray for The Martin Center tonight. We have the City of Canton inspectors visiting us in the morning and will be going for our temporary occupancy permit so that we can open and officially begin our ministry at the building. It has been a long trip down renovation road and we know the end of that chapter is near!!
