The Executive Board has voted to implement a points system for promotions. This system is to be implemented order wide.
Promotions under our previous Grand Prior were vague and there were many complaints of the “good Ole boy system” happening.
Another issue with promotions is the idea that the Templar Training Academy promotes Templars. This is false. Priors promote Templars, period. While the Grand Priory has benchmarks and time limits the Prior must adhere to, ultimately it is the Prior doing the promoting.
The points system is fair, clear and unbiased. All things needed for future growth and stability.
How we bring Templars on board:
Application submitted and shared with the Prior.
The Prior vets the Prospect, and a background check is preformed.
The Templars passes both vetting and background check.
The Templar is announced on both the Priory page and the National page.
The Templar is added to the appropriate pages and chat threads (to include the Academy)
The Templar is a CAA for at least 6 months, if they meet all standards and it pleases their Prior, they are eligible for promotion to Sergeant. They will be a Sergeant for at least 6 months before Knighting is considered. The two 6 month probation periods are minimums, it is up to the Prior whether or not to promote the Templar. They may decide the Templar isn’t ready for promotion, they can promote when they feel it is warranted (or earned).
We do not want to become a paper mill, handing out certificates and Knighthood. We want our Templars to earn it and to feel like they earned it. We are not a club where the persons paying dues run the show. No, we are a military Christian fraternal organization and nothing is guaranteed with membership. The three benchmarks a Templar must meet to be considered for promotion.
