With the power out, we will still plan to worship either outside under the picnic shelter or in the church fellowship hall with open windows. We will have water and shade, and we will worship the Lord together at about 11 A.M.

Happy Independence Day! Today we celebrate 250 Years of U.S. Independence and tomorrow we celebrate almost 2000 years since the resurrection of our Lord!

Tomorrow is the Lord's Day! We will have our regular worship service and a fellowship meal to follow. Sermon from Acts 4:32-37 with grilled chicken and smoked pork after that. Bring appetites for both!

The scripture reading for this morning

My reflection: We groan and moan in this perishable temple we are given; we by faith awaits the imperishable heavenly tent. If our earthly vessel wear and tear, our inner man is being renewed day by day. Both our inner man and outer man is sustained by Christ, to him be all glory.

“For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?””

“For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling, if indeed by putting it on we may not be found naked. For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened—not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. So we are always of good courage.
