Arrival day is the day we look forward to, today is the hard day, as we pack up and say goodbye to all our friends in Panguma. After a night of no electricity, this morning was a flurry of activity as we finalized packing, loading and spending last precious moments with everyone one the porch. From there we joined the hospital staff for devotions, (Beth has already shared the beautiful gifts we received from them.) our last breakfast at Elizabethβs, followed by presentations of gifts for our hosts and more goodbyes. Driving off we know we have left a piece of our hearts here in Sierra Leone.
The 8 hour drive back to Freetown, though long, went smoothly. (Well, except for that bumpy road from Panguma! π) We had the pleasure of meeting Brimaβs family, enjoyed a lovely meal along the beach, and watched the sun set on the Atlantic Ocean for the last time, for this trip anyway. Tomorrow we begin the last leg of our journey.
