Summer may be winding down, but things were heating up at UCC Homes’ Corporate Office! 🔥

A big thank-you to our in-house Pitmasters, Craig and Erik, for serving up some friendly lunchtime competition during UCC Homes’ End of Summer Cook-Off. And cheers to everyone who contributed side dishes and desserts—your delicious additions made the menu complete!

After a blind vote from those who sampled each savory selection, Craig took home the Best Pulled Pork award. Congratulations, Craig!

Of course, everyone who gathered around the table was a winner. What a delicious way to celebrate the end of summer!

Since May 2026, UCC Homes has donated 5,970 pounds of computers and computer equipment to the Computer Ministry in Mechanicsburg, PA. Through this partnership, our mission of serving through acts of love and compassion extends to the wider community and around the world.

The Computer Ministry distributes refurbished computers to veterans, hospitals, schools, churches, senior centers, and nonprofits—helping provide technology to people and organizations in need.

Thank you to Computer Ministry volunteers Kenneth Lynn and Eric King for picking up our donations, and to Neil Weiser and Erik Messner in our IT Department for fostering this partnership. We are honored to support this important work. To learn how your company can benefit the Computer Ministry, please visit https://loom.ly/gZGPQgQ.

United Church of Christ Homes celebrates the hard work and dedication of our employees and everyone working to build a better tomorrow. Happy Labor Day!

United Church of Christ Homes is blessed with an incredible team, and we love celebrating the people who make our communities feel like home. One of those standout team members is Erica Arnold, Director of Social Services at Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home.

Erica brings energy, compassion, and a truly welcoming spirit to everything she does. She supports new residents and their families during one of the biggest changes they may face—moving into a new community and adjusting to a new routine. Erica takes time to listen, answer questions, and help ease worries, making each transition smoother, more comfortable, and more personal from the very start.

Her dedication is a great example of what extraordinary hospitality looks like in action—showing up with patience, kindness, and encouragement every day, and helping residents feel connected, supported, and cared for.

Want to learn more about Erica and the heart behind her work? Get to know her by reading the full article from a recent edition of our employee newsletter, The Pulse.

When the air was smoky outside, Thornwald Home brought the tropics inside. Our dedicated volunteers teamed up with staff to transform Thornwald Home’s Personal Care into a sunny beach party—complete with island vibes, festive décor, and plenty of smiles. For a little while, we traded gray skies for warm Hawaiian breezes, uplifting music, and the joyful spirit of summer -- providing a mini vacation for all!

A heartfelt thank you to our outstanding volunteers for bringing the sights and sounds of Hawaii to us and creating a day full of laughter, connection, and special memories. Your time, creativity, and kindness truly made a difference—and reminded us that a little fun can brighten even the smokiest of days.
