6 Days Until Our Altar Dedication Mass!

As we continue our countdown to the Altar Dedication Mass on Saturday, September 12, we're pleased to share another important improvement made through our Now Is the Time Church Renewal and Asset Restoration.

Today's feature is our new Family Restroom located in Narthex A. This is a space designed to better serve families and visitors to our parish. The installation of floor and wall tile, as well as vents and lighting, is complete. Fixtures, countertops, a baby changing station, and a fold-down jump seat have been added to complete the space.

These enhancements reflect our commitment to creating a welcoming, accessible, and comfortable environment for everyone who visits our church campus. We are excited to offer this new amenity as we continue to improve the experience of all who gather here for worship, fellowship, and parish activities.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back as we prepare for this historic celebration in the life of our parish. ✨🙏⛪️

Our Legacy Center has been refreshed with new materials that celebrate the rich history and vibrant life of our parish community. A special photo collage commemorates memorable events and cherished people from our 75-year history, while three new display panels share the story of Good Shepherd Parish, the Catholic Church, and significant moments in world history that have shaped our journey through the decades.

As we prepare to dedicate our renewed church, these exhibits remind us that we are part of a legacy of faith built by generations of parishioners who came before us. We invite you to take a few moments to visit the Legacy Center and reflect on the many blessings God has bestowed upon our parish family.

On this International Day of Charity, we are reminded that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a lasting difference in the lives of others. Charity is more than giving; it is sharing God's love through compassion, generosity, and service. Let us take time today to support those in need, offer encouragement to someone struggling, and be a light in our community. Together, we can help build a more caring and hopeful world. May our hearts always be open to serving others with love and generosity.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help us to see Your face in those who are in need. Fill our hearts with compassion and guide our hands to serve others with kindness and love. Amen.

As our parish continues its journey of renewal and restoration, we are blessed to celebrate a truly historic and grace-filled moment in the life of our parish as we celebrate the Solemn Mass with the Dedication of an Altar.

The dedication of an altar is one of the most sacred rites of the Church, setting apart the altar as the place where the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is offered and where Christ becomes present to His people. We invite all parishioners, friends, and visitors to gather with us in prayer and thanksgiving for this special occasion.
Following Mass, all are warmly invited to a reception in the Parish Halls as we continue our celebration together in fellowship.

May this sacred dedication renew our hearts and strengthen our parish for generations to come.

Saint Teresa of Calcutta (1910-1997), also known as Mother Teresa, devoted her life to serving the poorest and most vulnerable people in society. Born in present-day North Macedonia, she became a Catholic sister and later founded the Missionaries of Charity, a religious community dedicated to caring for those in need. Through her compassion, humility, and steadfast faith, she became a powerful witness to Christ's love.

What makes Saint Teresa so remarkable is that her holiness was not found in grand speeches or positions of power. Rather, it was found in the countless small acts of love she offered each day to people whom society often overlooked. She saw the dignity of Christ in every person, especially the poor, the sick, the abandoned, and the dying. Her life demonstrated that true greatness is measured not by fame or success, but by selfless service and love for others.

Saint Teresa is especially important to the Catholic faith because she showed the world that holiness is attainable for everyone. Through her example, she taught that ordinary acts of kindness, performed with extraordinary love, can transform lives and bring others closer to God.

Two miracles attributed to Saint Teresa of Calcutta's intercession, the healings of Monica Besra in India and Marcilio Haddad Andrino in Brazil, helped lead to her canonization and recognition as a saint of the Catholic Church.

The Church celebrates her feast day on September 5, inviting the faithful to reflect on her example of humility, charity, and unwavering trust in God. Her legacy continues to inspire people around the world to see Christ in others and to serve with generous hearts.
