OUR BELIEFS: Being Lutheran
Our congregations accept and preach the Bible-based teachings of Martin Luther that inspired the reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century. The teaching of Luther and the reformers can be summarized in three phrases: Grace Alone

God loves the people of the world, even though they are sinful, rebel against Him and do not deserve His love. Faith Alone
By His suffering and death as the substitute for all people of all time, Jesus purchased and won forgiveness and eternal life for them. Those who hear this Good News and believe it have eternal life that it offers. God creates faith in Christ and gives people forgiveness through Him. Scripture Alone
The Bible is God's inerrant and infallible Word, in which He reveals His Law and His Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. It is the sole rule and norm for Christian doctrine. OUR STAFF: Rev. Gary Brandt, a native of Crystal City, MO, graduated from MO State University in 1971 with a degree in accounting. OUR HISTORY: During the year 1986, the members of Grace Lutheran Church of Versailles, Missouri conducted a four phase congregational self-study. In December of that year they determined to try to establish a congregation closer to the Lake of the Ozarks. On February 9, 1987, a group of members from the lake area met at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home at Laurie. There were seven couples and two children present. They were: Andy & Betty Conlin, Joe & Frieda Dodd, Kenneth & Lorene Gibson, Ron & Donna Schlicht and sons Brad & Donald, Leonard & Lee Vogt, Orville & Aline Warnken, and Don & Dorothy Zelle. We started by holding weekly Bible studies, electing Ron Schlicht as our first president, and making plans to form a new congregation. We chose a name for our church - Peace. During the latter 1987 and the first of 1988 we contacted more than 200 persons and fifty of these expressed some interest. On May 15, 1988, a group of members from Grace were commissioned to begin a new congregation. The next Sunday, May 22, we had our first worship service at the Sunrise Beach Community Center. That is where we continued to worship and grow until today.May 20, 1990 was our Charter Sunday. We became an official member of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. Early in 1991, Pastor Paul Sherouse who had guided us throughout this period, accepted a call into the United States Air Force as a chaplain. We were blessed to have a vicar, Harold Rathjen, and a retired pastor, George Marg, to carry us through until the arrival of Pastor Tony Alter. On March 1, 1992, we held our groundbreaking ceremony. It was a beautiful spring afternoon, Pastor Alter officiated the ceremonies with about 170 people to witness as we set aside this ground for sacred use. On March 23 construction started. We poured concrete on April 9, and by Labor Day, 1992, our new church home was completed. WORSHIP SCHEDULES:

PRAYER OF THE CHURCH
Second Sunday after Pentecost (Proper 5A)
June 7, 2026

In peace, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For repentance, that the Lord who both strikes down and heals would revive us and raise us up to live before Him, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For the ongoing call of pastors, that as Matthew left his tax booth for the apostolic ministry, so men in our day would enter into this ministry to proclaim God’s Word and administer His Sacraments in righteousness, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For parents, that our Father in heaven would strengthen them to train their children diligently, defend them from discouragement and apathy, and convince them that He is able to do what He has promised, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For peace among the nations, that our Lord, who calls everything into existence and governs it for good, would guide those in authority to reflect His order and purpose in their work, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For those suffering from illness, that according to the compassion of our great Physician they might be restored to health and strength; and that they might remain firm in faith and trust in the midst of these difficulties, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For those who receive the Lord’s Supper this day, that they would hold firmly to the promises of their righteous Savior who was handed over for our trespasses and raised again for our justification; and that the presence of His crucified and risen body would forgive, nourish and strengthen their faith, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For a cheerful and willing spirit, that God would preserve us from a grudging heart and lead us joyfully to pursue good because of the good done for us in Christ, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For His kindness to Abraham, Sarah and all the saints who have received Christ’s eternal promises, let us give thanks to the Lord; and that He would preserve us in faith and righteousness to glorify Him now and forever, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

To Him we give all glory, honor and worship, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

This week, you are invited to pray for the Synod presidential election, especially for the electors, who are preparing for the first round of voting.

In place of a collect, consider praying and meditating on the following verses:

Walk about Zion, go around her,
number her towers,
consider well her ramparts,
go through her citadels,
that you may tell the next generation
that this is God,
our God forever and ever.
He will guide us forever. (Psalm 48:12–14)

✝️ Read one of May's daily devotions --> Water of Life: Called By Name

In the Word
"And when he came up out of the water, immediately he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, 'You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased'” (Mark 1:10–11).

Of the Word
Jesus’ public ministry began after His Baptism in the Jordan River. When He came up out of the water, God declared Him as His Son.

By Baptism, we have been made sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father. He says, “I have called you by name, you are mine” (Isaiah 43:1b). Saint Paul writes, "For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith" (Galatians 3:26).

Immediately after His Baptism, the Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan. We, too, are tempted every day — tempted to doubt our faith, tempted to disobey God, tempted to follow the ways of the world. Temptations are all around us and are hard to escape, but because we have been joined with Christ, Satan has no power over us. "The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil" (1 John 3:8b).

Walking with my Lord
Dear God, You are my Father and I am Your child. Guard and protect me from temptation and help me live my life as one who belongs to You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

PRAYER OF THE CHURCH
The Holy Trinity
May 31, 2026

In peace, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For the Church of God, called out of darkness into His marvelous light and purchased with the precious blood of Christ, that she would be kept in the true faith, without error, schism or compromise, until He welcomes her home as His spotless bride, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For the floor committees who prepare the work of our Synod’s convention, that they would walk in a manner worthy of Christ and be guided by God’s Word throughout their labors, so that the Lord’s good and gracious will may be done among us, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For creation and the good gift of man and woman with whom God has crowned it, let us give thanks to the Lord; and for His continued blessing of marriage with its callings and promises, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For nations, governments, leaders and civil servants, that peace and justice may abide here in our land and throughout the world, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For those afflicted in body or mind, soul or spirit, that the Lord would give them grace to entrust themselves to their Savior’s loving hands and to await relief according to His good and gracious will, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For all who receive the blessed Sacrament, that they may show forth the fruits of the Spirit in lives of faith, repentance and goodness, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

For wisdom, that as faithful stewards we may govern His creation well and use the earth’s resources in a God-pleasing manner, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

Lord God, heavenly Father, You have called Your Church from every tribe and nation. Grant that Your people throughout the world would rejoice in the death and resurrection of Christ and live as those who have died and risen with Him in Holy Baptism; through the same Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
