Statutory interpleader 28 U.S.C. 1335 || When several parties claim rights to a property (here called the res or the stake), a plaintiff stakeholder (or even a claimant) may sue in federal court under certain conditions that are more flexible than ordinary diversity jurisdiction. First, only minimal diversity applies. This means that diversity is satisfied as long as any two claimants are from different states. Second, the amount in controversy is only $500.

Statutory interpleader also relaxes service of process and venue requirements. First, the statute authorizes nationwide service of process. Second, venue is proper in any district where any claimant resides.

Meme explained: You are the stakeholder. The cookie is the stake. By adding any amount of statutory interpleader to your Tollhouse recipe, multiple claimants are now coming out of the woodwork to claim rights to your chocolate chip cookie. This morning, I was thinking about how much I cherish the newborn season. It doesn’t make much sense to me to even call it a fourth trimester because a trimester only has three segments. Anyway, I love making milkies, healing, fitting back into my old clothes and most importantly, getting to know my newest baby. Even the lack of sleep is a different lack of sleep. It’s manageable.

I cannot wait to have another one… or five… but for now, I’m going to enjoy this peaceful, milk-scented dreamland.

This afternoon, I had some slightly overdue breast imaging. Fortunately, everything looked good! I’m pregnant, so I opted for a breast ultrasound over a mammogram. I have been getting breast imaging since I started having cyclical breast pain (fibrocystic breast changes) in my early 20s. I also have a family history of breast cancer.

This time, for the first time ever, a doctor read my imaging while I was waiting in the office. I was impressed at the level of efficiency!

Early detection saves lives. “Breast” is not a dirty word. Most importantly, when something feels abnormal, advocate for yourself and trust your intuition. I am grateful to have access to care, and an OB/GYN who takes my concerns seriously.

I found the BEST vegan chocolate bar today. It’s a sweet, creamy chocolate without the bitter or sour finish that come with many other vegan bars. It reminds me of European chocolate, like a Toblerone. They have darker varieties, but I’m over dark chocolate. (Save the dark chocolate for folks who sniff their wine.) I LOVE that this bar is more like the creamy I ate as a kid!!!! You can find the bar at

Another thing I like about this bar is that it has a real (not sugar-coated) fact on the back. As a law student, this kind of social consciousness touches my heart. My bar had a fact about criminal Justice policy, and voting restrictions that are imposed on people long after they have served time for a felony.

Last final today. How it started versus how it went! I used my hands-free pump during my last exam. I got 10 ounces while writing about depreciable assets and all sorts of fun tax code stuff.

Earlier this year, we had COVID and these naturally flavored electrolyte beverages got us through the dehydration.I was able to continue breastfeeding without compromising my supply. Now that I’ve returned to the gym, I drink at least 16oz of one of the flavors so that I have a little more milk left over each day to maintain my freezer stash.
