Church Nursery Worker
JOB SUMMARY:
·To provide dependable, safe, secure, and nurturing care to children ages 0-5 who are in nursery care during Sunday school, Sunday worship, and other occasional events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Responsible for providing age-appropriate care which includes: feeding, changing diapers, escorting to the bathroom, maintaining a safe and sanitary environment, putting children down for naps, holding, or sitting with and cheerfully interacting with children through games, stories, play and prayer.
· Arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of nursery hours. Childcare hours include every Sunday from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Additional events with nursery care will be added in consultation with nursery workers.
· Maintain the Safe Sanctuary Policy of First United Methodist Church by keeping adult to child ratios and signing children in and out of nursery care to his or her parent or guardian.
· After nursery care ends, straighten the room and clean any toys or surfaces used that day.
· Be polite, friendly, and courteous to all children, parents, and volunteers.
· In the event of an emergency, contact the Usher Team for assistance in notifying the parent(s) or guardian.
· Report to the Senior Pastor any issues which hinder the carrying out of these responsibilities.
QUALIFCATIONS
· At least 18 years of age
· Christian Character
· Experience in caring for children between the ages of 0-4
· Satisfactory completion of background check
· Present record of current immunizations
· CPR Certification for infants and children (preferred)
· Three professional references
BENEFITS, CONDITIONS, AND TERMS OF POSITION:
Job Type: Part-time, 2-4 hours per week.
· The work week shall include all Sunday and occasional special worship services or church events. The timing of weeks off shall be planned in consultation with the Pastor and Director of Children’s Ministry so that substitutes can be secured.
· A background check, drug test, and any other job-related paperwork required by the Staff Pastor-Parish Relations Committee of Camden First United Methodist Church is required prior to employment and periodically thereafter.
· The Safe Sanctuary Policy shall be followed in all matters relating to children and youth. ALL employees are expected to be Safe Sanctuary Certified.
· Wages are paid every two weeks.
· The wage is set for the following fiscal year (January1-December 31) through the Staff Pastor-Parish Relations Committee.
**Immediate termination will occur in cases of intentional verbal, physical, or emotional abuse or neglect of any child, parent, or church member. Termination may occur for failure to carry out job duties as described above or failure to comply with the “First United Methodist: Safe Sanctuary Policy.”
