The Story Continues | Mark 16 | Jesus, Again

What do you do when you reach the end of a Gospel?

As we close our “Jesus, Again” series, we celebrate the greatest news in history: Jesus is risen! His resurrection gives us hope beyond the grave and a reason to return—even when we’ve failed.

But Jesus also gives us something to do. He calls us to trust Him personally and help others become His disciples.

Join Calimesa Worship Center as we explore Mark 16 and bring our church’s vision into everyday life: Connecting People with God, Working Together, Creating Disciples.

Bring your questions. Bring your doubts. Come ready to take your next step.

The story continues—and you’re invited to be part of it.

What do you do when following Jesus costs you the approval of everybody else?
Mark 15 brings us face-to-face with the cross—and with people who had to decide what they would do with Jesus.
Pilate knew something wasn’t right, but he wanted the approval of the crowd more than he wanted to do what was right.
Simon was handed a cross he never asked to carry.
The women couldn’t stop what was happening, but they stayed.
Joseph of Arimathea finally stepped forward and made his faith visible.
And towering over all of them is Jesus.
Jesus didn’t accidentally end up on the cross. The cross wasn’t an interruption of His mission.
The cross WAS the mission.
He could have saved Himself—but He stayed because He was saving us.
So maybe the question isn’t, “Would I have been better than Pilate?”
Maybe the question is:
What will I do with Jesus?
When following Him costs me likes, approval, popularity, comfort, or something I wanted—will I still choose Him?
When life hands me a cross I didn’t choose—will I carry it with Him?
When I can’t fix what someone I love is going through—will I stay?
When it’s time for my faith to become visible—will I step forward?
Don’t just look at Pilate.
Don’t just look at Simon.
Don’t just look at the women.
Don’t just look at Joseph.
LOOK. AT. JESUS.
Because of what He has done:
Choose Him. Follow Him. Stay with Him. Honor Him.

The religious leaders are under pressure, and they plot. The woman with the perfume recognizes the moment and worships. Judas is tested and betrays. The disciples are confronted with Jesus’ prediction and question themselves. Peter confidently promises loyalty and then collapses. The disciples enter Gethsemane and sleep. Jesus enters Gethsemane under unimaginable pressure and surrenders to the Father.

Jesus is coming back. The question isn’t whether we can figure out exactly when—the question is whether we’ll be ready.
In Mark 13, Jesus speaks honestly about difficult days ahead: deception, conflict, persecution and tribulation. But His message isn’t meant to leave His followers frightened. Again and again, He gives them the same instruction:
Watch. Be alert. Stay ready.
And while we wait, we have work to do.
We share the love of Jesus.
We love one another.
We look for lost and hurting people.
We serve.
We make disciples.
We don’t know the day or the hour, but we know the One who is coming.
So don’t get distracted by arguments. Don’t live in fear. And whatever you do…
DON’T SLEEP ON THIS.
