Thank you for helping with our holiday food drives. We were able to help 26 households for Thanksgiving and 29 households for Christmas. This is only possible with the generosity and support from our parishioners and our community. It takes many people to make this happen, through organizing, requesting donations, stocking shelves,
shopping for items, donating items, picking up donations and setting up for the food drive weekend. Thank you to everyone who helped by providing gifts to all the children in our families. Their parents are so grateful that not only are we helping them with food but also bringing them extra joy on Christmas morning. Thank you to each and every one of you, to Clinton ShopRite for their donation of perishables, Aqui Market for allowing us a food donation box and Bob for regularly transporting this food over to our food pantry. Thank you Califon Wine & Spirits and Lebanon Bourbon Street for boxes needed to pack up the food, Little Brook Nursing Home for their food collection & Glen Gardner fireman who donated a full cart of groceries. Thank you to Declan, Megan & Jeremy who help with so many extra volunteer hours for our pantry & drives. To all our secret helpers who just quietly support us, we notice your positive impact and appreciate you. It is especially important to have enough volunteers to pack and deliver the food to the households. We love seeing students learning to volunteer and we’re glad to see our Confirmmandi joining our other volunteers. Thank you and God bless you! For more information or questions on how you can help with our food pantry or food drives, please contact Susie at 862-777-2563 or [email protected]

Today 1/4/2026 the newly placed statue of our parish patron Saint John Neumann was blessed after the 10:30 Mass.

FEAST OF ST. JOHN NEUMANN
Monday January 5, 2026
St. John Neumann took seriously our Lord’s words, “Go and teach all
nations.” From Christ he received his instructions and the power to
carry them out. For Christ does not give a mission without supplying
the means to accomplish it. The Father’s gift in Christ to John Neu-
mann was his exceptional organizing ability, which he used to spread
the Good News. Today the Church is in dire need of men and women to continue in our times the teaching of the Good News. The obstacles and inconveniences are real and costly. Yet when Christians approach Christ, he supplies the necessary talents to answer today’s needs. The Spirit of Christ continues his work
through the instrumentality of generous Christians. Let us pray to receive the virtues of St. John Neumann our parish patron.

🎄URGENT NEED: Christmas Giving Tree

Our Giving Tree is a beautiful sign of hope this Christmas season. Many have already taken a tag—thank you for your generosity! Yet, there are still too many tags waiting, and time is short.

Each tag represents a neighbor in need, a resident in one of the six organizations we support (Anderson House, Freedom House, Little Brook Nursing Home, Newton’s Guest House, SHIP, and St. John’s families). Every gift tag taken is a reminder that no one is forgotten this Christmas.

If you’ve already taken a tag, we invite you to prayerfully consider taking one more.
If you haven’t yet, now is the perfect moment to join in.

This week, you will find the Giving Tree in the Seton Room for easy access.

Remember:
Some tags list multiple items—feel free to choose one or more.
For Freedom House clothing requests, simply purchase sizes you would for a male family member.
Gift cards can be purchased right here at St. John’s after Mass or in the Church Office.
Please bring your gifts, with the tag attached to the Narthex or Seton Room by Sunday, December 7th.

Together, we can ensure that every tag is answered with love. Let’s make this Christmas a season of giving that truly reflects the heart of our parish.

If you have any questions, or a timeline extension is needed, please contact Maria Brynildsen at (908) 797-7146 or [email protected]

2025 Christmas Angels Wish List

This program directly grants the children of families using our food pantry with gifts they otherwise would not be able to afford. You are our Christmas Angels providing a special wish for those children on Christmas morning.

Use the link to directly purchase items. The gifts do not need to be wrapped. You can ship directly to the church using the link. Or ship to your house and drop off at the church office. The gifts are needed by Dec 18. You can also buy the items at another store but please go to the Amazon list and mark off item “buying the gift elsewhere”. Any questions please contact social ministry 862-217-7457. Thank you for your support and generosity.

The Diocese appointed Father Roy Quesea, JCL as the priest administrator for our parish. He has been an ordained priest for nine years and most recently was the Secretary to Bishop Checchio. We are very happy to welcome Father Roy to our parish. As soon as more information is available regarding his arrival date, we will share with all parishioners.

As many of you know, Bishop James F. Checchio was appointed to Coadjutor Archbishop of New Orleans.
His welcome Mass in New Orleans was this morning. As of today, the Diocese of Metuchen becomes a "Vacant See."

Then, following church law, the Diocese's College of Consultors will elect a priest to be administrator for the Diocese until such time that the Holy Father names a new Bishop for our Diocese.

O God, eternal shepherd, who govern your flock with unfailing care, grant in your boundless fatherly love a pastor for your Church who will please you by his holiness and to us show watchful care. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Update: Gifts due back 12/7. Thank you!

Christmas Giving Tree is set up in the Narthex. We need your help to make a difference in the lives of so many challenged by their circumtances. We are supporting six organizations this year: Anderson House, Freedom House, Little Brook Nursing Home, Newton’s Guest House, SHIP and St. John’s individuals and families in need. Some tags have more than one gift listed, feel free to purchase one or more of the gifts on the tag.
If you select a tag asking for a Gift Card, please consider buying the gift cards here at St. John’s. All gift cards are available for purchase after Mass or in the Church Office.
Please,
1. Take a tag from the tree.
2. Sign it out on the appropriate Log Sheet.
3. Purchase & wrap your gift, attach the tag you took as the label.
4. Drop off your gift in the Narthex or Seton Room by Sunday, December 7th.
Thank you for your generosity & Christmas spirit!
Any questions will be directed to Maria Byrnildsen, our inspiring volunteer who has graciously agreed to organize and run this project again.
