Dear Partner,
Each season of the year brings back memories of seasons past. I have fond memories of Christmas plays and programs from my childhood on into my adult years. Some of you may remember receiving a bag of fruit or candy at the conclusion of the Christmas play at school or church. You may reminisce when you hear certain Christmas carols sung. The scent of pine, cinnamon, or spruce may trigger memories of family gatherings as you decorated the Christmas tree or visited with family. If you have these type of memories, count yourself blessed and hold them close to your hearts. Share them with others, bringing the past into the present.
Sadly, not all holiday memories are of good times, but difficult ones as well. If this season is one you wish were different due to circumstances beyond your control, then let me give you 3 passages of scripture that have strengthened me through the years when holidays and heartache clashed.
Psalms 29:11 (NKJ) The Lord will give strength to His people; The Lord will bless His people with peace.
Isaiah 40:29-31 (AMP) He gives strength to the weary, And to him who has no might He increases power. Even youths grow weary and tired, And vigorous young men stumble badly, But those who wait for the LORD [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] Will gain new strength and renew their power; They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun]; They will run and not become weary, They will walk and not grow tired.
Psalms 34:18 (NLT) The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.
We pray during the time of struggle and in the times of joy, your focus remains on the Lord who is the glory and the lifter of your head! This season may focus on the babe in a manger but never forget HE has become the LION!
