A road to Emmaus.
Two heart-broken disciples.
Listening to a stranger and learning from scriptures.
Then they arrived at home, but they weren’t ready to say good-bye.
“As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther. But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them.” Luke 24:28-29
They invited Him to stay. These disciples needed to choose Jesus before their eyes were opened and they recognized the Savior of the world.
The same is true in our lives, we need to intentionally choose to invite Him in, to make room for Him in all we are doing.
Some days that may look like turning off the radio, audiobook, or music and driving in silence – listening.
It may look like waking up a few minutes before the rest of the household stirs to settle and set the tone for the day.
It may look like listening to worship music, opening scriptures, worshiping in the temple, going to church, sitting with a friend.
There are probably as many ways to let Jesus into an ordinary day as there are people.
I think it’s not so much adding things to our already packed schedule, as it is doing what we are already doing with intention and with a heart and mind inclined to find more Jesus.
