The 5/31/26 message by Mike Gowens is #25 in the "Exposition of Philippians" series, and is based on Philippians 3:8-14. Good morning dear friends in Christ! The Psalmist emphasizes his priority in seeking God "early." Because He is "my God"...because He has implanted within my heart a spiritual "thirst" and "longing" for Him...because this world is "a dry and thirsty land where no water is," seeking His face and favor via prayer and meditation is a priority of the first order.

Early in life, it is imperative that one seek the Lord (cf. Ecc 12:1). Early in the day, it is crucial to seek His blessing and guidance (cf. Ps 5:3). Early in a journey or special task, it is necessary to seek His providential aid (cf. Ps 127:1). Early in a trial and affliction, seeking His strength makes all the difference in your spiritual resources.

May we never relegate our Father to the place of last resort, but prioritize Him by confessing our total need of His power and grace "early" in youth, in the morning, in a task and in a time of special need. He is honored when His children seek "first" His kingdom and righteousness.

I look forward to our time together before His throne this coming Sunday. I hope to see each of you in the house of the Lord.

In fervent love,
Br Mike

Brother Gowens sermon from 5/10/26 is based on Psalm 127-128, companion Psalms that paint a lovely portrait of home blessed by God. Before developing the thought of the godly family, however, Gowens considers two other "houses" that God builds: 1) The Entire Family of God; 2) The Household of Faith.
