“Jesus Christ and Him crucified” is the theme of the whole Bible. The OT anticipates Him in types, shadows & prophecies, and the NT proclaims Him as the fulfillment of God's covenant purpose.
Even the arrangement of Israel as they journeyed through the wilderness depicts the cross. If one traces the tribal positions from Benjamin in the north to Zebulon in the south, and Gad in the west to Naphtali in the east, one sees the symbolism of a cross.
Notice that this arrangement is also instructive to the church, for each tribe is arranged around the ark of the covenant (the symbol of God's presence), the Levitical priests (worship leaders) and Moses, the prophet who brings the word of the Lord, in the center. Worship and the word of God in the reality of Christ's abiding presence with His people is the heart and soul of what the church is all about.
I hope you will plan to gather with us around the mercy seat this Sunday for an encounter with the Lord in mutual faith and thanksgiving. Our worship service begins at 10:30a.
In His mighty love,
Br Mike
