Good morning dear friends in Christ! I pray you have a good and godly day in the Lord.
I really appreciate the attached thought. It's not the highly visible and loud voices of celebrity Christianity that make the biggest impact on the world, but the quiet, sincere and steady faith of average believers in little churches across this country.
One thing I've always admired about our Primitive Baptist forbears was their commitment to quiet consistency in their devotion to Christ. Conspicuous by its absence was a concern for ostentation or self-promotion. Of course, such a concern for integrity over brand-visibility should never be taken to justify a halfhearted or slothful service to our Lord; nevertheless, the humble people of God have not been overly concerned with what men might think.
Such a mindset seems very strange in our image-conscious age. The selfie generation does not understand those whose priority is quality over quantity, or purity over popularity. But it's not the big crowds, exciting events, celebrity speakers and massive facilities that make the greatest impact for good. Instead, it's the steady gait of simple devotion to God, commitment to his glory and the attempt to implement his truth in the details of daily life that ultimately matters. Neither salt nor light make much noise when they are doing their respective things.
I love you all and look forward to our time together in the house of God this coming Lord's Day.
