Congregation Or Ami ("Light of My People") was founded in January, 1997 as a group of families came together to create a traditional Reform Jewish congregation to service the west San Fernando and Conejo Valleys and surrounding communities. Or Ami’s vision is that “People Matter!” The congregation strives to be a light for its families and community and to create a warm, friendly and supportive e

nvironment. As a young congregation, one of the exciting pleasures is to share "first-time" events and to enjoy the evolution of those events as they grow with our community.

We at Congregation Or Ami are heartbroken by the horrific shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego that took the lives of three people, including members of the school community on its campus.

As Jews, we know the pain and trauma that violence against sacred spaces causes. We refuse to let our Muslim neighbors grieve alone.

Houses of worship and schools must always be places of peace, prayer, learning, and safety, never fear or hatred. No one should ever be targeted because of their faith.

We stand in grief, solidarity, and prayer with San Diego’s Muslim community.
