Today, October 4th, our church family joined both Coxsackie First and High Hill United Methodist churches for 'World Communion' Sunday worship. We were honored to have our District Superintendent Reverend Dr Karen Monk presiding. Hosted by the Coxsackie church, we enjoyed music, prayer, and a sermon that brought Apostle Paul's letter to life for us in the present time. This was all followed with a time of fellowship and good eats! Thank you Rev. Monk and thank you, Coxsackie, for hosting this service...and thanks to all who prepared the delicious food.

On Sunday, September 27th, our church family was honored to remember our dear friend, Eric Rasmussen, who we lost earlier this year. Pastor Steven Adade performed a brief service, dedicating a tree that was planted in the church's lawn in honor of Eric, who was a true environmentalist. Afterwards, a brunch was shared with Eric's widow, Liz, and family and friends in attendance. A very special touch: Sue Hilgendorff handmade beautiful miniature origami trees and recited a poem "The Great Wilderness", which was a perfect tribute to Eric!

Immediately following worship service today, the Cairo United Methodist church family honored our dear friend and member, Cathy Jeune, who passed earlier this year. Pastor Steven Adade officiated at the memorial. Cathy's daughter, Marlo Parker, and her husband JP, shared memories and fellowship with those who were in attendance. Sue Hilgendorff read a beautiful poem, presenting Marlo and JP with a butterfly candle, which will be placed in our church's Memory Garden. In addition, Sue handmade origami butterflies and set them free to 'dance in the air' with Cathy! And, of course, in true Methodist fashion, there were lots of treats to enjoy by all!
