Rockford Community Church has just adopted it for it's Church Outreach and Retreat! This 15 acre wooded island has a small rustic cabin on it, surrounded by forest and of course water! It is situated in the Rock River, where the Leaf River merges into the Rock! Because of this tributary, the fishing is rated #2 in the state-of-Illinois Walleye reports! The front of the island hosts a huge sand-bar
for boaters and swimmers to drop anchor and enjoy Summer afternoons of hanging out at the point of the island! Although the water-way is public and has been visited and enjoyed by thousands for the last 100 years, this 15 acre parcel is privately owned and operated by Michael Hall, Kevin Gus Hall and Thomas Hall a/k/a the "HALL FAMILY"! The Hall family recently got together and elected to allow Rockford Community Church the opportunity of using it as a Church Retreat! Pastor and Christian Missionary from Nigeria- Pastor Samuel Sarpiya has now joined forces with the Hall Brothers in effort to clean-up, improve and then utilize this island paradise for the betterment of the Kingdom Of God and our Lord Jesus Christ!
