Today we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives defending the freedoms we often take for granted. As Christians, Memorial Day should remind us how grateful we ought to be that we live in a nation where we can freely gather, worship, open God’s Word, and proclaim the name of Jesus without fear.

We remember the sacrifice of these heroes with deep gratitude, and we pray for the families who carry their memory every day. May we never waste the freedom so many paid to preserve.

ā€œGreater love has no one than this: to lay down his life for his friends.ā€ John 15:13

In Acts 23:12-35, more than forty men form a deadly conspiracy to kill the apostle Paul. Yet despite their hatred, secret plotting, and binding oath, God’s sovereign purposes could not be stopped. In this powerful sermon, we examine four reminders of God’s providence through opposition: evil moves quickly against God’s servants, God providentially exposes hidden schemes, God uses earthly authorities for heavenly purposes, and God faithfully preserves His people for His mission.

This expositional sermon through Acts highlights the sovereignty of God, the providence of God, Christian courage, gospel opposition, and the faithfulness of Christ to protect His mission. Discover how God used an unnamed young man, a Roman tribune, and even a pagan government to preserve Paul exactly as Jesus promised in Acts 23:11: ā€œTake courage… you must testify also in Rome.ā€

If you are facing fear, uncertainty, spiritual opposition, or difficult circumstances, this message will encourage you to trust that no human scheme can overturn the promises and purposes of God.

In this message from Acts, we explore how the Apostle Paul stood faithfully for the gospel in the middle of hostility, chaos, and opposition, and how the Lord Jesus Christ stood beside him in strength and purpose.

This sermon examines Paul’s courage before the Sanhedrin, the division between the Pharisees and Sadducees, the centrality of the resurrection, and Jesus’ powerful words to Paul: ā€œTake courage.ā€ We are reminded that followers of Jesus never stand alone, even in suffering, uncertainty, persecution, or spiritual exhaustion.

If you have ever felt discouraged, overwhelmed, rejected, or forgotten, this study through Acts 23 will encourage you to trust the sovereignty of God and remain faithful to the mission of the gospel.

Topics covered in this sermon:
•Paul before the Sanhedrin
•Christian courage and conviction
•Wisdom in hostile environments
•The resurrection of Jesus Christ
•God’s sovereignty in chaos
•Spiritual encouragement for weary believers
•Jesus standing beside His people
•Faithfulness in suffering
•Gospel mission and purpose

When the gospel truly changes us, our identity, loyalties, and purpose are forever transformed.

In Acts 21:27–22:29, we see the Apostle Paul stand firm in the middle of chaos because Jesus had completely changed his life. The same gospel still transforms lives today.

Join us tomorrow at 10:00am as we worship together, study God’s Word, and celebrate the hope we have in Christ.
