Buxton Centre Baptist Church

Buxton Centre Baptist Church We’re a loving, welcoming family of people of all ages who are seeking to know and follow Jesus. The Rev. Laura Holt-Haslam serves as our pastor.

Some of us are new to the faith, others have been Christians for our whole lives, but we all have something to learn from God and each other. We are a small, active, friendly congregation, committed to community involvement and mission, and are members of the American Baptist (ABCUSA) denomination.

After Peter denied Jesus, his future seemed uncertain. Had he lost his calling to be a disciple? Had he ruined God's plan for his life? Peter didn’t know what came next, so he returned to his old life as a fisherman. On the shore of the Sea of Galilee, Jesus met Peter with forgiveness, restoration, and a renewed calling. Jesus meets us after failure, disappointment, and life's unexpected detours. While our circumstances may change, our call to follow him remains.

Armed soldiers and temple guards arrived with overwhelming force to arrest Jesus. Peter reached for his sword, ready to fight for Jesus. But Jesus revealed a very different kind of power—not the power of violence, fear, or control, but the power of surrendering completely to the Father’s will. This morning we’ll explore what true power looks like and what it means to trust God even when the world feels out of control.
