Through the gifts of the Holy Spirit our vision is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, by members joining together in leadership and learning, to develop Spiritual gifts and to extend these gifts into the community as true servants of God. From the time of the first worship service in 1804, up to the present time, the congregation in Butler now known as Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church ha
s been at the forefront of community service and change. In 1824, they sponsored the first Sunday School in Butler which met in the courthouse. In pre-Civil War times there are records of descendants of slaves being received as members. After the 1890s a major emphasis was on sending missionaries to far corners of the world to spread the Gospel of Christ. Unlike many other denominations, the United Presbyterian Church revised its Book of Order in 1925 to allow the ordination of women as elders and ministers. The 1950s saw Saint Andrews begin the broadcast of its weekly worship service at 11:00 AM Sunday mornings. That broadcast continues today. Today our facilities are used in community service by (among others) Narcotic Anonymous, Wednesday Community Dinners, a Sunday Lunch program, and the Chili Cook-off. We are a lively, loving congregation located in downtown Butler. For 200 years, the people of Saint Andrews have gathered to celebrate God's love through thoughtful worship, caring fellowship, and service to the larger community. We work hard at being an inclusive faith community where people from all walks of life feel comfortable worshiping and working together. We hope you'll take a few minutes to browse our page and website. Better yet, come visit and let us get to know you. Our worship service is at 10:30 am. May Christ's peace be with you.
