Weekly recap—3/15/26:

Living in middle Georgia has a way of keeping you on your toes! Much like life, just when you think it’s all sunshine and spring blooms, a cold wind can blow through and threaten the new growth that’s just begun to emerge. It emphasizes the importance of anchoring our lives to the stability of the Lord. He is always dependable and never changes, and at Midway Baptist Church, come what may, we’ll keep on worshipping Him for it!

In Sunday School, our study through the book of Matthew centered around true righteousness and what it means to live in God’s Kingdom.

In service, Pastor David’s sermon took us through Ephesians 6:1-4 which highlights the importance of families. He emphasized that God reveals Himself through the image and name Father and calls us to obedience as an expression of our love for Him. He explained that having a heart obey isn’t a heart that looks for justifications to do what we want, but obeying because it’s the right thing to do. He further explained that parents should strive to model their parenting on their heavenly Father’s example; not provoking their children, but influencing them by pointing them to the Truth and teaching them to love the protections found in God’s Word. Finally, he explained how families stabilize lives and societies providing discipline and order, and ultimately leads to the blessings the Father promised.

After serve, we enjoyed Build-Your-Own-Burritos, chips and salsa, Mr. Paul’s fabulous spiced eggs, and iced cookies for dessert—with coffee, of course!

The Monday Morning Ladies’ Bible Study was cancelled due to weather this week, but, Lord Willing, we will meet next Monday morning.

Announcements:

Please pray for her trip and all the ways the Lord will use and bless her time in Brazil.

The Homestead ministry is coming along nicely! We have 2 new coops ready for the chickens. A big thank you to all who have helped and continue to offer support—we are so excited to see how the Lord will bless and use this ministry!

Please pray as we explore options for bees. We’re seeking ways for the Homestead Ministry to bless to others in our community. If you know of a church or ministry that might be blessed through our efforts, please reach out to Pastor David, and please continue to pray for local chuches and ministries to use the church and farm property as the Lord leads.

Weekly recap—3/8/26:

Being out of town most of the week, naturally enabled some reflection. There’s something about being away that makes you appreciate what you have; simple, modest, perfectly humble. Midway Baptist Church just feels like home.

In Sunday School, we continued our study through the book of Matthew which focused on Jesus being our Savior worthy of our worship.

In service, Pastor David continued the study of submission. He took us through John chapter 6 emphasizing Jesus’ submission to the Father. He highlighted that Jesus sought only to do the Father’s will, not out of fear, but love and reverence. He instructed us on how we are to submit by following Jesus’ example: against our own desires/interests, into trials/afflictions, even when we have the power to choose to avoid the discomforts, and it comes at a great personal cost. He also encouraged us that when we do follow Jesus’ example, we will be exalted, in time, for submitting to the Lord. If you are facing trials and afflictions of your own, we would love to encourage you and share the hope offered through Jesus Christ.

After serve, we were spoiled again by Mr. Paul who made us an out-of-this-world Beef and Vegetable soup! We also had sandwiches and Mrs. Trecia’s melt-in-your pound cake for dessert—with coffee, of course!

The ladies met out at the farm Monday morning for the Monday Morning Ladies’ Bible Study this week. We had a wonderful time of encouragement and fellowship and prayer. We were blessed to have Avree with us and pray for her mission trip to Brazil!

Announcements:

We sure appreciate the blessing of your service!

Weekly recap—3/1/26:

It was a beautiful day at Midway Baptist Church! The sun was warm and shining after a raining week in middle Georgia. It was the perfect opportunity to soak in both the sun and the Son!

In Sunday School, our study through the book of Matthew centered around Jesus’ invitation to follow Him.

In service, Pastor David continued preaching in Ephesians. His sermon focused on Ephesians chapter 5 regarding the importance of Submission. He shared why submission is important for humility, order, and respect within the Body of Christ. He acknowledged that submission is oftentimes difficult, but as we willingly submit first to the Holy Spirit, He enables us to grow in preferring others to ourselves. If you want to know how you can become a child of God, we would love to talk to you about it!

After serve, we all headed over to the farm for sloppy Joes, chips, watermelon, and carrot cake for dessert—with coffee, of course!

The ladies will not be meeting for the Monday Morning Ladies’ Bible Study this week, but we plan to resume next Monday morning.

Weekly recap—2/22/26:

Midway Baptist Church is wrapping up February nicely this week. Winter hasn’t quite loosened its grip, but signs of Spring are beginning to pop up all around as a sweet and simple reminder that there’s a promise of renewal that offers hope.

In Sunday School, we began a new study through the book of Matthew. We discussed how Jesus came to fulfill the Father’s plan for salvation.

In service, Pastor David preached about Unity in Christ from Ephesians 4:1-13. He shared that salvation came through the Jews for all the world, and though everyone is a creation of God, only through Jesus Christ, can we be called the Children of God. Unity is how God’s children display their appreciation to God through humility, gentleness, patience, and forgiveness. He lead us to examine Jesus’ example of meekness and how using our unique gifts helps to build up the church. He also reminded us to encourage one another through our words and deeds. If you want to know how you can become a child of God, we would love to talk to you about it!

After serve, we had a delicious spaghetti dinner complete with Caesar salad, garlic bread, Paul’s awesome spicy eggs, and cake for dessert—with coffee, of course!

The ladies Monday Morning Ladies’ Bible Study was a sweet time of refreshing. We encouraged one another with the Word and enjoyed fellowshipping together. We wrapped things up by spending time in prayer, and we look forward to being together again next week.

Weekly recap—2/15/26:

We’re keeping things simple at Midway Baptist Church this week. Sometimes, the pace of life seeks to entice and leads to rushing and fretting about which robs peace exchanging it for anxiety. In such moments, it’s helpful to remember to keep things simple, focus on what you can control and what has eternal value, and trust the Lord with the rest.

In Sunday School, we finished up our study of Numbers and Deuteronomy in Deuteronomy 31-34 as we contemplated God’s power. We examined God’s faithfulness and how comforting it is for Believers to know that they can live without fear.

In service, Pastor David shared a message from 2 Corinthians 12:7-8. It was a somber message but also a message full of hope. He challenged us to consider the purpose of suffering. He lead us to examine how suffering teaches humility, endurance, and perseverance. We looked at Paul’s example of willingly enduring suffering so God’s power would be multiplied, and in turn, strengthen him. He also reminded us that Jesus understands suffering, and the purpose of His suffering is found in Believers’ eternal salvation. If you are suffering and you need hope; if you aren’t certain about where you’ll spend eternity, we want you to know about the hope you have because of the sacrifice Jesus made for you. Please reach out to us; we would love the opportunity to encourage and support you.

After serve, we kept lunch simple and made sandwiches. We also had fruit salad, chips, cookies, and coffee—of course.

The Monday Morning Ladies’ Bible Study was wonderful. We were small, and missed those unable to attend, but we enjoyed the fellowship and being able to encourage one another. We also spent sweet time in prayer and look forward to all being together, Lord willing, next week.

Weekly recap—2/8/26:

Love is in the air here at Midway Baptist Church this week, and not just because Valentine’s Day is Saturday. The love of the Lord and the sweetness of fellowship fills our hearts with a sense of God’s eternal love for His children! ❤️

In Sunday School, our study of Deuteronomy 30 showed us that God expects wholehearted commitment from His people, and sought to persuade Believers to fully commit their lives to the Lord.

In service, Pastor David shared a message from 2 Corinthians 4:16-5:10. He challenged us to contemplate the purpose of life and consider what happens when we die. He explained that the way we live reveals what we believe about eternity, and shared how to prepare ourselves for our eternal future. If you aren’t certain about where you’ll spend eternity, we want you to know about the hope you have because of the sacrifice Jesus made for you. Please reach out to us; we would love the opportunity to encourage and support you.

After serve, we enjoyed round 2 of Paul’s fabulous chili and rice! The fellowship was lovely, and for dessert, we had fudgy brownies, and coffee—of course.

Weekly recap—2/1/26:

Brrrr! It was chilly here at Midway Baptist Church this week, but the fellowship really warmed our hearts and souls.

In Sunday School, our study of Deuteronomy 19 explained how Belivers find God’s blessing through obedience.

In service, Pastor David began a study through Genesis. His message focused on the importance of the role of men. He shared about God’s purpose in creating distinct sexes and how each one has a unique and important role to fulfill. His sermon was a compelling compliment to our Sunday School study affirming the blessings that flow from obedience, and the consequences faced from falling short. If you would like to know more about the hope you have because of the sacrifice Jesus made for you, we would love the opportunity to talk with you.

After serve, we warmed ourselves up at our fellowship luncheon with beefy Brunswick stew, Paul’s legendary sliced eggs, homemade sourdough bread, and for dessert, we had Grandma Wigglesworth’s backberry jam cake, and coffee—of course. It was as fun as it was delicious!

Midway Baptist Church has been a busy place this week!

In Sunday School, we continued our study of Deuteronomy and examined how Belivers are expected to avoid idols and worship the Lord alone.

In service, Pastor David’s message concluded our study of the book of Mark focusing on the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He shared how the Biblical evidence compels Believers, even convincing modern law, crime, and forensic science experts, with its validity and Truth. In light of the evidence, the resurrection requires a response; if you would like to know more about the hope you have because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we welcome the opportunity to share with you.

After serve, we had a fellowship luncheon with beef tips, sweet peas, rice, rolls, and Menonite bread. Mrs. Lydia made banana pudding for dessert, and if you missed out on that, I offer you my sincere apologies—it was delicious!

The ladies decided to meet out at the farm for our Monday Morning Ladies’ Bible Study. We sure missed our regular crowd due to illnesses, work, etc., but we enjoyed our discussion and fellowship and pray for everyone to be together again next Monday morning.

It was another wonderful week to be a part of Midway Baptist Church!

At Sunday School, we started our study of Deuteronomy and discussed how God desires Belivers to remember His faithfulness and teach future generations about Him.

Weekly recap—1/4/26:

What a fabulous start to 2026! To close out 2025, Midway Baptist Church hosted the wedding of Brandon and Olivia on New Year’s Eve day. It was a beautiful ceremony with a beautiful bride and a handsome groom.

At Sunday School, we completed our study of Numbers and discussed how God’s plans require Belivers to act upon instructions He gives.

In service, Pastor David’s message was about the End Times and how Believers focus should be on being prepared for Christ’s return more than trying to figure out when Christ will return.

After serve, we had a sweet time of fellowship together enjoying a lunch of beef stew and rice, and finished our meal with pecan pie, pound cake, and coffee—of course!

Yesterday, the Monday Morning Ladies’ Bible Study met for a time of fellowship and prayer.

We would love to have you join us next week! Sunday School starts at 10am, followed by Service at 11am. We will also enjoy a fellowship lunch together after service. Hope to see you soon!

Amen!

Amen!

How do we win the victory?

Through boldness: The God that was with Gideon is the God that will be with us.

By brokenness: God never really uses anything until He first breaks it.

With brightness: Our commission as men and women of God is to let our light shine in a sinful, dark world.

Midway Baptist Church

Midway Baptist Church was founded in 1873, but was closed after 2013. The church sat vacant for a few years and was being considered for conversion into a hunting lodge. Former pastor, David Brown, with the help of former deacon, Alton Blackston, along with Amanda Sherrell and her husband Dexter Sherrell (all pictured above, left to right as named) had a vision of reviving the church and restoring it to its proper role: A house of worship.

Midway operates on the vision of being a place of encouragement--where Christians come for encouragement, fellowship, growth, but must importantly, prepare to go back out and interact with the world. Christians should love enough to be hurt--if we are not loving people enough to have our hearts and lives open enough to be hurt, we are not loving as we are called to in Scripture. Along with that, Christians should work enough to be weary!! :)

Encouragement to the worker
