Sometimes you need more than a “pretty Psalm.”
This past Sunday, Pastor Dave Fetherlin took us into one of the harder corners of Scripture: Psalm 35, a prayer that asks God to bring justice against those who have caused harm.
Dave talked about how he couldn’t find coloring pages made from these kinds of verses. Because sometimes you don’t need something pretty to color. Sometimes you need something you can color furiously with red and black.
And maybe that’s part of the gift of the Psalms.
They give us permission to bring the full range of our human emotions to God: anger, grief, fear, frustration, loneliness, hurt—even the feelings we’re not sure we should say out loud.
God can handle it.
He doesn’t ask us to sanitize our emotions before we pray. He invites us to bring them to Him—to be honest with Him about what’s really happening in our hearts.
So, in honor of Sunday’s sermon, we made some “not-so-pretty Psalm” coloring pages.
Because sometimes faith looks less like coloring inside the lines and more like bringing our whole, messy, honest selves to God.
