Thank you, Mom.
Mom, you went halfway around the world to serve our Lord and follow your spouse, when it was much more you to stay at home.
You lived in the mud, washed clothes in a river, boiled water for drinking.
You graciously offered hospitality to countless people, often brought to your door unexpectedly. You taught them how to use the toilet, and the faucet, and the shower, and how to eat with utensils.
Incredibly, you put food on the table, simple and delicious, when there was often very little to share.
You showed your love to your children by traveling by foot, jeep, bus, often through mud and rushing rivers, so that you could attend special events of your children in boarding school 200 miles/24 hours away.
You lived a life which was often in the public eye even though you would have just as soon quietly stayed at home. You did it because it was good and right, something bigger and more important than your desires.
Remembering and loving you . . .
