Butler Presbyterian Church

Butler Presbyterian Church We are people who seek to grow in our faith--by worshiping God, studying the Bible, and spending time--together!

We seek God's direction using God's living Word--Jesus the Christ as our model. His life, death, and resurrection--frame our lives. His ministry of welcoming, healing, restoring, and teaching informs our own lives and our church ministry.

Let us pause to give thanks and praise on this Holiday weekend.

Worship with us at Butler Presbyterian online or in-person at 10:30. We will consider again, the story of Martha and Mary - from a different perspective.

I am confident God is always speaking to us. What I'm less confident in, and I'm talking about myself here - is whether or not we are always listening.

Let us listen for one holy hour this Sunday.

See you in Worship,
Pastor Greg

Happy weekend, Church family!

When I was studying theology, somebody said to me "God always saves the best for last."

I'm pretty sure I dismissed it then. It didn't sound like a very deep thought to me, I suppose, and 'doggone-it I was there to learn DEEP theology!

But it's funny how things change.

What I mean is that sometimes, all the words in the world don't mean anything until you've lived them. Have you had that happen to you?

"The older you get, the faster time goes," is another one. "Life is short" is probably in that category too. "The only constant is change."

All these things sound like just words and make us roll our eyes when we are young. But one day - those little sayings start to make a lot more sense.

I think the promises of God are like that. They sound unrealistic; too good to be true; or hard to believe. We dismiss them, seeking more.

When all God wanted for us all along, is the best. Maybe that's why I've decided it is true after all:

God does save the best for last. Jesus turns the water into wine in our text for Sunday. Come and hear!

See you Sunday.

Good Friday Afternoon, Church!

I hope you are all staying cool on this VERY warm day.

I will be out of the pulpit this Sunday, but in Worship you will hear a very special guest message. 'God's Delight' is based on Luke 12:22-34.

Here is the bulletin for Worship. God's voice to our hearts is never impeded by the distance between us. Butler Presbyterian Church is portable with all of your summer plans!

And I will see you next Sunday.

Peace,
Pastor Greg

Church,

This is Trinity Sunday.

A greater mystery than the Trinity would be hard to come by. What's easier to understand - and undeniable in my opinion - is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit among us.

In fact, this Sunday I'd like to take a look back - a deep dive - into who we have been at Butler Presbyterian.

Finding out who we were has an odd way of putting in perspective who we are today. And it makes clearer the undeniable acts of God which have brought us to this point.

It's a perfect time to remember WHO and WHOSE we are.

Join us this Sunday, either in person or virtually.

Peace,
Pastor Greg

It's Pentecost, Church!

See you Sunday! For those on the road or away or joining us from home, here's a virtual bulletin just for you.

Except - one thing is wrong, and it's my fault. Sally is scheduled to be away from us this Sunday and we will miss her - really miss her, because Pastor Greg will be at the piano.

Which also means - we will probably sing different hymns than these.

It's all good, though; I'm confident God will bless and multiply our efforts. It's Pentecost Sunday - and we will hear about the Holy Spirit doing an amazing thing to somebody who had given up all hope.

If God is for us, my friends, who can be against us? What on earth would we worry about?

Come pray with us this Sunday. See you there.

Pastor Greg
