Since the Atherton Schools are closed I'm canceling daytime activities at the church today.
AA will still meet and Amber will post on this page about yoga.

We are pausing the Wednesday Praise Service at Open Door Church starting tonight. We will resume the service on Wednesday February 18 at Burton Christ UMC (4428 Columbine) with a collaborative Flint Mission Zone Ash Wednesday Service.
The Praise service will return to Open Door Church the following week (February 25).

Our hearts are heavy as we grieve over the tragedy that occurred on Sunday. We are all the body of Christ. So when one part of our body hurts, the whole body hurts and weeps. Sometimes the only thing we can do is pray to show our support, pray to the one who holds all things in His sovereign hands and point Him... to the one who knows and loves all.

Let's pray in unity with one another. Let us all come together as neighbors, as friends and as community to show our prayers and support for the victims, their families and the community of Grand Blanc. This gathering is open to all. Whether you pray in silence, with words, or simply by your presence, you are welcome. Let's be the light of Christ. A light that shines in the darkness in the world around us.

May our prayers bring comfort, our presence bring strength, and our unity bear witness to the love of God that holds us all.

As we look for ways to support our neighboring faith communities and our communities in general, here are a few place to start... P.R.A.Y.
1) PRAY - as we talked about yesterday, God is our shelter, our respite, from the storm. (Psalm 91:1)
2) RESPOND - be a positive, non-anxious presence to those around you, showing the love that sustains us (Romans 12:12)
