Sunday, we talked about three young men who refused to bow, even when it meant being thrown into a fiery furnace.

They didn’t know how things would turn out. They just knew who they trusted.

And something Pastor Ryan shared really stuck with us:

“They went into the fire bound, but they came out unbound. The only things that burned were the ropes holding them.”

Think about that for a minute.

Sometimes we pray for God to take us OUT of a difficult season, when He may be doing something IN us while we’re there.

That doesn’t make the hard things easy. And it doesn’t mean every situation turns out the way we hoped.

But it reminds us that we don’t have to walk through those seasons alone.

Maybe you’re in one of those seasons right now.

Some seasons feel like fire.

You can do the right thing, stay faithful, and still end up in a place you never would have chosen.

That’s where Daniel 3 takes us this Sunday.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego did not know how the story would end. They only knew who God was.

“Our God is able to deliver us… but even if He does not, we will not bow.”

That kind of faith does not mean we know what God will do.

It means we know He is still God in the middle of it.

And sometimes the very thing meant to destroy us becomes the place where God breaks what has been holding us.

They went into the fire bound, but they came out unbound.
The only things that burned were the ropes holding them.

Pastor Appreciation Month is a good reminder that encouragement matters.

A text.

A handwritten note.

A gift card.

A meal.

Or even just saying out loud, “I’m thankful for you.”

Those things may seem small, but they can mean a lot to someone who spends so much of their life pouring into other people.

And as we’ve been walking through Daniel, I keep thinking about faithfulness.

Daniel kept showing up faithfully in seasons that were not easy, in places he did not choose, and often without knowing how the story would turn out.

Pastors do a lot of that too.

They preach when they are tired.

They pray for people in hard seasons.

They sit with families in grief.

They celebrate the good.

They carry things we may never fully see.

So this week, let’s be intentional about saying thank you.

Not because pastors need to be put on a pedestal, but because faithful service deserves encouragement.

This morning “Thank God” by Leanna Crawford came on the radio, and it stopped me for a minute.

It made me think about all the roads I would not have chosen.

All the times God said no.

All the times the harder road ended up being the one that humbled me, changed me, or put my feet back where they needed to be.

And then I thought about Sunday’s message and the picture of Jesus washing feet.

Sometimes we know what the next right thing is.

Forgive.
Apologize.
Serve.
Let go.
Choose humility.
Walk away from something that keeps pulling us off course.

And sometimes our first answer is still, “No.”

Because the road God is asking us to walk is not always the easiest one.

But maybe clean feet are not about having an easy life.

Maybe they are about being willing to let Jesus keep cleaning up the road we walk, one surrender, one hard yes, one step at a time.

So today I’m thankful for some of the no’s.

I’m thankful for some of the harder roads.

And I’m thankful God loved me enough not to let me stay exactly where I was.

Come worship.

Jesus called us the salt of the earth.

But salt only changes something when it leaves the shaker.

It can sit there clean, safe, and completely useless to the food beside it.

The same can be true of us.

At some point, our faith has to leave the building.

It has to show up in the way we treat people, serve people, encourage people, and carry Jesus into ordinary places.

At some point, the salt has to leave the shaker.

And this Sunday is a good chance to practice that.

Come worship with us, stay for lunch, and bring somebody with you.
