Minnesota South District of the LCMS

Minnesota South District of the LCMS The mission of the Minnesota South District of the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod is "cultivating leaders intentionally engaged in the mission of God."

The Minnesota South District initiatives for 2022-2025 are:
1. To raise participation in wellness resources by at least 350 parish church workers;
2. To produce leadership training videos for parish church workers and lay leadership;
3. To actively recruit servant leaders for our churches and schools; and
4. To promote and incentivize mission and ministry partnerships in every circuit.

Collaboration and connection were the focus as the Minnesota South District welcomed staff from the Northern Illinois District for a day of shared learning and conversation.

We give thanks for the partnership we enjoy with fellow LCMS districts and for opportunities like this to learn from one another. Relationships built through these conversations strengthen our collective ministry and remind us that, while our districts may be separated by geography, we are united in purpose as we serve Christ and His Church.

TALKING POINTS WITH PRESIDENT WOODFORD

Faithful in the Means, Trusting the Spirit in the Results: A Pastoral Reflection on the Augsburg Confession, Article V

There is a quiet tension many congregations feel. On the one hand, we confess with confidence that the Holy Spirit “works faith, when and where it pleases God” (Augsburg Confession, Article V). On the other hand, we look around our sanctuaries, see the shrinking attendance, and wonder: Are we doing enough? Are we reaching anyone beyond ourselves? Should we be trying something different?
