Jesus has given us the greatest gift, Himself. He is the Bread of Life and He wants to fill our lives with His Eucharistic presence as we journey to be with Him in heaven. In the Catholic faith, we believe that Jesus makes himself truly, personally, and tangibly present in the Eucharist. May we always avail ourselves of this great gift by our participation in Mass and time in prayer at Eucharistic Adoration.
On Sunday, we marked the Feast of Corpus Christi—a special feast day dedicated to honoring and celebrating the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. At the same Mass, we also honored the Feast of the Ugandan Martyrs, a day that remembers a group of Christians from Uganda who courageously stood up for their faith.
We were so blessed to have our P.E.A.C.E. group (a group of African immigrants and people of African descent within our parish) participate in many liturgical roles on this day. Such as the Presentation of the Gifts—the moment in Mass in which the bread and wine are brought to the altar. Along with these gifts, they also brought forward generous donations for our local food shelf to help neighbors in need.
