NASA data shows that global sea levels are rising as Earth warms, driven mainly by melting land ice and the expansion of warmer seawater.

Satellite observations since 1993 reveal a clear long-term increase, with NASA reporting that the rate of global sea level rise has more than doubled over the past three decades.

Rising seas increase long-term risks for coastal communities, infrastructure, and ecosystems, making continued monitoring from space increasingly important.

Solar panels don't necessarily have to occupy large undeveloped areas. Rooftops, parking lots, schools, hospitals, warehouses, and commercial buildings can all provide surfaces for photovoltaic systems.

Using existing structures can reduce competition with agriculture and natural habitats while placing electricity generation closer to where people actually use power.

Large ground-mounted solar farms will still be important for meeting massive electricity demand, but distributed solar can complement them.

Some of America's biggest potential solar sites are already built—they're simply sitting above our heads.
