As our nation remembers the horrific terrorist attack on New York, September 11th, 2001 as well as the heroism of those responding to it and the loss it caused, we have reason to hope beyond the fallenness of the world in which we live. Humanity is fallen, evil, and offers no hope for improvement in itself. If humanity is the end of a person's hope, then they have no hope at all. However, the story does not end there. Jesus' perfect life, sacrificial death, and victorious resurrection provides us a “LIVING HOPE” of reconciliation with God and an eternity with Him!

Today Pastor Chris he is going to lead us through 1 Kings 18. This scene is Elijah's confrontation with the prophets of Baal atop Mt. Carmel. It is a prominent and well-known instance of God's demonstrated supremacy, sovereignty, and providence - leaving none in doubt that Yahweh, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, not idols, is the one, true God!

This morning, we get to practice one of the commands from Jesus in celebration. Baptism was commanded as a public proclamation of faith in Christ and a demonstration of dying to self and being raised in newness of life to follow Jesus. Please join us in this celebration, pray for and encourage those who are proclaiming their faith, and keep sharing the gospel so that more may come to faith!

Tomorrow is Back to School Sunday. Join us for worship, 11:00 am, for a time of celebration! We’ll be praying over families and students and schools (students can bring their backpacks!), and we’ll have back packs available if needed. A time to pray, a time to connect, a time of commissioning.
